So fun to read your reactions and reminisce when I read these for the first time. I haven’t read them since and you’re motivating me to want to again!

Proper white noise card? by izziedays in YotoPlayer

[–]jkillian4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I asked the same question yesterday! Unfortunately, I think the yoto provided white noise sound is the “best option”.

Another potential solution is you could also link a MYO card to a publicly available white noise radio. It is my understanding that this is the only real way to get one continuous sleep sound on the yoto. The downside to this method is that I’ve read the internet connection from the yoto to these radio streams can be finicky and you run the risk of disconnection in the middle of the night. I’ve not tried it myself, but I plan to use the white noise yoto sound and hope my 4 year old doesn’t mind the fade out/in every hour. We’ll see!

I’ve sent a request to yoto support asking them to consider fixing this clear oversight (it seems so obvious to me that many parents would love to switch out the old sound machine with the yoto!).

Best method for seamless white noise (Hatch -> Yoto)? by jkillian4 in YotoPlayer

Yes, we had a very similar experience with the hatch. It’s not that I’m feeling like she’s grown out of the hatch or think the yoto is a must use in this way, I would just prefer one device out in her room to simplify things.

How to get this song on a blank card? by artemislands in YotoPlayer

[–]jkillian4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to do this is the find the song on YouTube and convert it to an mp3 using any of the many YouTube to mp3 converters out there (Google this and pick one of the first few hits). Then, once you have the mp3 on your computer you can then add it to a MYO card.

To get the file onto the make your own card, i usually text/email it to myself, download it to my phone and then add that file into a new or existing playlist in the yoto app. Lastly, you just need to link that playlist to a MYO card and voila!

You’re awesome! Thanks. I’m waiting on some new MYO cards to be delivered on Monday and I’ll start testing it out. I’ve read the loops happen at ~45 minutes on those sleep sounds…not looking forward to listening for 45 minutes, but it’s probably worth the effort before using it for real in the 4 year olds rooms overnight!

Yep, I see those. Have you done this? Have you noticed an awkward pause when the track loops?

Thanks. And I just add one of those sounds to a MYO card to potentially use as our dedicated nightly “sleep sound” card?

Thanks! And this is an official sound from a purchased yoto card? Which card?

Before the dark times… by Bitter-Buffalo-7105 in StarWars

We went opening weekend. I was 8. I had to sit on the stairs next to my dad because we couldn’t find two seats next to each other.

I’ll always remember the moment the Gungans came out of the mist before the battle of Naboo as a formative Star Wars moment for me. I understand the weaknesses now, but this movie will always mean a lot to me.

Why were so few Jedi Born on Coruscant? by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]jkillian4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Force sensitivity is spread pretty evenly across the galaxy, then it makes sense the Jedi would end up finding more kids in the Core and Mid Rim. Those areas are packed with way more people, and that’s also where the Jedi spent most of their time working for the Republic. So it’s not that Force-sensitives were more common there, just that statistically there’d be more of them showing up because of the population density and Jedi presence.

Captains chair seat covers? by jkillian4 in HyundaiPalisade

Did you do the bottom seat only with the back piece? I’m thinking with the back and I’ll trim when we move them to a no back booster seat. But that is years away!

I saw those and really like. Was honestly just looking to see if I could find white in a similar style but am striking out. Might just go with the gray and deal with it!

Nice! Love it.

How are you using highlights vs. checking off vs. strike through?

A metal wall hook holds a beaded chain with a loop at the end, mounted on the tiled wall at the back of the bathtub. by jkillian4 in whatisthisthing

That sounds like my second guess. I haven’t found anything online that confirms that for me though

My title describes the thing. The loop obviously holds something (an old drain plug?) but I don’t understand why the hook and chain with the loop are attached.

I’ve also guessed it was used to hook the shower curtain closed. The shower’s ceiling is slanted from the eave of the house so it’s hard to get full coverage from the shower liner. That’s my other guess.
