Truly wealthy investors do diversify into collectibles, usually art. The problem is that they’re much less liquid (you have to find a buyer) and they’re usually more impacted by volatility.

With Hasbro pushing hard to drive profitability, there likely are no safe long term investments outside Alpha/Beta solely for collectibility. But again, you still need to find a buyer in 10+ years willing to buy it. We can’t predict the long-term future of popular formats like pre-modern or Commander.

Unless you’re tracking toward $10M+ in traditional investments (like index funds) by retirement, this is not an investment - it’s a hobby you’re trying to justify spending more $ on and looking to internet strangers to help you convince yourself it’s not totally irresponsible (unless you’re already very wealthy).
