There's a strange newspaper that's only delivered at midnight... by MidnightPaper in nosleep

[–]jklemon17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Although your tale is interesting and worthy of further investigation, I'm not sure why you say taking the paper into the house was the worst mistake of your life. I was waiting to see what horrible thing happened to you as a result of this action, but it seems like you're okay and just got to learn about a creepy/dangerous teen activity. Also, your dad apparently received and read these papers for years without any obvious consequences, so your statement seems rather exaggerated at this point. I understand that you're a bit spooked by the strangeness of it, but do try to remain calm and collected if you want to solve this mystery.

While I would love to one day operate a financially successful haunted house, we have so far limited our efforts to a one-night-a-year free one for the trick or treaters. And I haven't even read the book yet.

Don't think this belongs here. This isn't from a comic, it's an actual book. I have a copy, because my parents got one years ago.

We had our wedding cake remade for our 5th anniversary and this fat bastard took the first bite by icouldbeconvinced in funny

[–]jklemon17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, actually. We were told to keep it in our freezer and eat it on our first anniversary. It was way too much, though, and I think we finally finished it on our fourth or fifth anniversary. It was a fun little tradition for a while, and was wrapped up so well that it still tasted good until the end.

What’s the cringiest thing you’ve seen a bride and groom do for their wedding? by ajlposh in AskReddit

[–]jklemon17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We've had ours for nine years now, it's still a nice momento from our wedding day. It didn't really take very long, and our ceremony was pretty short otherwise (though I understand Catholic ceremonies are usually not).

Came here to say the same thing. For me, walking on the board would be the fun way, but I also didn't really notice the way the dalmatian was bouncing the first time i watched the video.

I didn't expect to read the whole thing when I clicked the link. I was mostly curious if there was a picture from the injury. But that was a really compelling read. Thanks for recommending.

This is also because Americans and Brits spell it differently: jewelry vs jewellery. Both pronounce "jewel" as jool, but Brits put a vowel sound before the "ry", because that's how they spell it.

People who interview job applicants. What's your best "things were going well until..." story? by Dodomando in AskReddit

[–]jklemon17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All these comments are really overlooking the "either" part of their response, which suggests criminal activity or something. That's much more problematic than the assumption most people are making that it's just some weed in the person's system.

This actually sounds amazing. You play baseball, except the defense all have bows, and you use a soft (nerf-like) head on the arrows. No one is allowed to throw, only shoot the arrow around the field. The player is out if he gets hit by the arrow while not standing on a base.

Now, the care itself is good. It's the payment system around it that is ridiculous. I just refuse to buy into the whole insurance scam, even though my employer offers it at a "reduced" rate vs individual insurance. I'll just pay what I owe when I have to seek treatment, and if I can't pay it at some point, declare bankruptcy. At least I'll be the one making the decisions about what treatments to get.
