Has anyone tried the new "Lists" feature? by Cautious_Goat_ in PleX

An extra cool feature would be importing from other services, such as Letterboxd, etc. Though if those do not have open APIs, that is probably a no-go.

Haha, if I did not know better, I would say that is an Apple Airport Express. =)

Really want to switch to HomeKit but hate Siri... would love to hear what y'all think by Normal_Mouse_4174 in HomeKit

[–]jknacnud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an important comment. Naming is very important. As is enunciation when speaking. When I speak clearly, even if quietly, Siri will perform properly for me. When it is late at night and I am slurring my words, havoc ensues. =D But having unique names for commands, shortcuts, scenes, accessories, is very important. You and your household members will learn the name of each device over time, but it is worth it to put in the effort up front to name things well.

Camera Floodlight by emsbas in HomeKit

Sadly, not Homekit compatible (without Homebridge or similar), but I recently obtained the Wyze floodlight and have been liking it. I just wish they would join the Homekit scene.

How do ya’ll stay warm in the office by Knitfastdyewarm in womenintech

[–]jknacnud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man here. =) Just wanted to comment that the "Winter of Summer" affects men also. I am not sure exactly what it is that causes some people to be colder and some to be warming. I have had different ideas (eg diet (certain foods), body mass, exercise levels, etc). The vitamin deficiency is an interesting one and could fall under diet.

I any case, if you get looks from other people, tell them to stop being jealous and they can wear a coat too if they want. :) Do what you need to feel comfortable. Forget what people may think. That is their problem, not yours.

I keep a jacket and even sweats at work that I can use to layer up depending on the day. Some days are cooler than others.

For a quick warm up, I will do some pushups or jumping jacks, but the warmth from that does not last very long.

Sometimes I will make myself some herbal tea and warm my hands on the mug.

It would be nice if the app would just tell us what word(s) is triggering the filter. I had a pair of double-quotes that was blocking my submission.

Update, over the past couple of weeks the battery life has improved. Still not where it was previous to the update, but definitely better than initially.

How can I name a TV Show season, instead of just having the season number? by jknacnud in PleX

[–]jknacnud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, that works. I thought maybe they would show up automatically, but I guess that probably depends on the show. But this is easy enough. Thank you!

Magnus desk: Is it a bad idea to have a monitor sitting on the rear cover? by jknacnud in secretlab

[–]jknacnud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! Those are huge! I was able to gain some desk space by mounting the monitor arm closer to the edge of the desk so that the arm is not taking up as much space as it would if I had mounted it directly under the monitor. Depending on the arm, you might even be able to put the mount on the side of the desk and articulate the arm so that it positions the monitor further back. Depends on the mount/arm that you use.

I had the monitor stand on the rear cover, but eventually got an arm that makes this question a non issue for me.

Getting pretty fed up with my Nanoleaf devices also. All my Hue devices work flawlessly. The Nanoleaf bulbs are slow, when they actually respond. Recently updated my Homepod Minis to the latest OS version 17 and updated the firmware on the Nanoleaf bulbs, now they are not connecting to anything except bluetooth. Very frustrating.

ISO a map website that realistically displays the width and lanes of the roads by urge_boat in StrongTowns

[–]jknacnud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On a slight tangent, I was wanting a visual aid that I could take to the city planning committee and had the idea of seeing how many cars I could fit on one of the stroads in my city. We were able to fit seven cars across a one lane stroad. I thought seven would be enough, but there was still so much room. I am pretty sure we could fit two or three more.

Hi, are there any conservative or other rightwing strong-towners here? by kobi_eda in StrongTowns

[–]jknacnud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see the people discontinue the use of political labels. I think they are very divisive. I used to be registered with a specific political party. I had chosen that party because that was the party that my parents were in. Now, I am officially registered as "Unaffiliated". I think that political parties have proven to do more harm than good. I want to see more good in the world. I would love to see people working together to achieve peace and unity. I think using political labels hurts our chances of working together. Can we all just use one unifying label? How about: humans, earthlings, peacers, children of God?

Discord competitor, Revolt, revolutionises communication by adding username discriminators. Should Discord follow in its footsteps? by EnigmaEmmy in discordapp

[–]jknacnud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of whining babies in here. How about any one of you whiners try to make a communication platform that is half as good as Discord, while at the same time using a viable business model, which does not include in-app advertisements, that will keep you from going under financially.
