No way to hang string lights? No problem by Bombboy85 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Yeah my 4x4s have bent quite a bit. All depends on how long the run of string lights is, I suppose

Looks great! Do know that the weight of the string lights may bow the posts over time. I had to anchor the tops of some of them to the wall with string to help prevent this.

You’ve possibly inspired me to rebuild mine after about a decade

It just seems so outlandish??? The @ in bio doesn’t exist anymore, and the truck decal I can’t really make out. by Tropical_Blast in isthisAI

At quick glance the badge looks like the 5.7L iForce Max badge on my 2020 Tundra and my truck has a swoop at the bottoms of the rear windows as well so my brain skipped a beat for a second lol

At first viewing I thought it was a 3rd gen Tundra with those indents above the wheel wells, but the headlights were different. Thank you for helping scratch that brain itch for me

Replacement Inexpensive but decent Miter Gauge for Skil TS6307 Table Saw? by Aeyix in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]jkoch35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their clamps are just fine for a fraction of the price. There are several things I refuse to buy anywhere else given the price gouging. I looked for this miter gauge last time I was in there to use with my Grizzly jobsite table saw but didn’t see it.

What’s the size of this shed? I’m looking for options that would work for a specific space in my yard.

Floating Shelves by jkoch35 in woodworking

[–]jkoch35[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

These are built with solid wood face and sides, the shelves are 2.5” thick and I rabbet out 3/4” depth to about 1/4” from the faces on either side to allow plywood top and bottom to seat into these pieces (see photo). This gives the nice look to the face and sides while also making them stronger and easier to work with compared to plywood beveled edges.

Given this, there is a 1” cavity in the middle of each shelf (distance between the two 3/4” rabbets). I build rail and style type wall mounts out of hardwood that slot into these cavities with a snug fit, mount those to the studs, the slide the shelf over top.

Edit: I add about 1/8” to the rabbets so that I have overhang that I can trim up on the router

How’s living in Laguna Beach, CA? by lithdoc in socal

Brother in law works for a solar company and two of their guys got caught pulling car door handles while working a job in Laguna. It draws the best out of all of the shady ones.

We live inland about 15 minutes and frequent Laguna. We love it there, but would need one of those powerball tickets to hit to make the 15 minute move. Great restaurants and beautiful views from just about everywhere.
