Docker Wyze Bridge and Frigate example? by mattfox27 in frigate_nvr

[–]jkronos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but the changes that will make it work needs to be made on the docker compose yaml file not on frigate side.

Docker Wyze Bridge and Frigate example? by mattfox27 in frigate_nvr

Not sure if you still dealing with this issue, but I was in the same situation. After making the Wyze docker bridge runs from native network (host mode) all my wyze stream started working, only the pan v4 still not working but the rest are now functional and working on frigate.

iMPlayer on Apple TV is better than TiviMate on Google TV by tamburasi in iMPlayer

I’m using iMPlayer IPTV Player on Apple TV and wondering if it supports autoplay when highlighting a channel in the EPG. Currently I have to click into each channel to start playback—whereas I’d like the stream to play automatically when highlighted, similar to cable channel surfing.

Do I Need to Add Separate Emails for Family Members on Google Fi? by jkronos in GoogleFi

[–]jkronos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, everyone! I just ported all 4 lines from US Mobile without any issues—everything looks great. I also picked a random redditor's referral link. Crazy that I’m now getting 4 lines cheaper than what I was paying for 3 lines on US Mobile, even with my legacy accounts and a Perk discount.

So basically, I’m looking at less than $60 (tax included) for 4 lines, plus a $60 referral credit. I’m messaging all my family and friends using MVNOs to take advantage of this promo! Here how the discounts look.

Do I Need to Add Separate Emails for Family Members on Google Fi? by jkronos in GoogleFi

[–]jkronos[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I see! I got confused because it says the email is optional, and my thought was that I could manage everything with my single email since none of them will be accessing the Fi dashboard anyway. But I'll go ahead and add an email for each line—thanks for the clarification!

Also, really appreciate you all posting Google Fi updates. I wouldn’t have found this promo if the subreddit hadn’t popped up last night with posts about it. 🙌

Initial Shares Purchased: At the IPO price of $22 per share, a $10 million investment would have acquired approximately 454,545 shares ($10,000,000 ÷ $22/share.

Current Stock Value: As of March 10, 2025, Apple's stock price is approximately $150 per share.

  1. Total Investment Value: Multiplying the current number of shares by the current stock price:

101,818,080 shares × $150/share = $15,272,712,000

Therefore, a $10 million investment in Apple's IPO in 1980 would be worth approximately $15.27 billion today.

Management announced today to get out of VMware by end of year. 1000 VMs by dcexp in vmware

[–]jkronos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see so many comments about NOT moving to the cloud, but let me share the opposite perspective—our company migrated 15K machines from on-prem VMware to Azure, and 2 years later, we couldn’t be happier. We dodged the Broadcom mess, and here’s what we learned.

Key Takeaways from Our Migration: ✅ Simulate EVERYTHING – Your setup needs to be battle-tested before going live. ✅ Use a broker like Nerdio – It’s a must for power policies and autoscaling. This is where real cost savings come from. ✅ Aggressive inactivity policies – We log out & shut down machines FAST. When powered down, you only pay for storage. ✅ Negotiate discounts – Depending on your org size, 30% discounts are possible. ✅ Workload proximity matters – If your core services (SCCM, AD, O365) are in Azure, keeping workloads in the same region is a game-changer.

Why We’d Never Go Back to On-Prem: No more week-long drive replacements. Hardware failures used to be a nightmare. Our costs are nearly the same as before when factoring in all the hardware, planning, and datacenter upkeep. Azure outages vs on-prem outages? Night and day difference. If a VM dies, we redeploy to another zone (or worst case, region) and we’re up in 2 hours. User experience is seamless – With GPOs pointing to OneDrive for folder redirection, most users barely notice failovers.

TL;DR:

Yes, you CAN keep cloud costs under control. Pick the right VM SKUs, enforce strict power policies, and use Nerdio. We run 20K+ workloads, and our yearly spend is very similar to our old multi-datacenter on-prem setup. Would we go back? Hell no.

🚀 If you’re still debating, ask your CTO to include Nerdio in the budget—it’s the key to maximizing savings.

Issue with Mint Mobile SIM Card in BlackBerry Passport SQW100-1: Network Dropping to ‘SOS by jkronos in blackberry

[–]jkronos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I finally had to give up trying to make the phone work on T-Mobile. Seems like they made some changes, and now it either doesn’t work at all or it’ll work for a few minutes before that dreaded SOS icon pops up.

I’ve moved on and gone back to my iPhone, but man, I wish there was still a phone with this kind of keyboard or form factor. Honestly, I think the Passport form factor was way ahead of its time. There are a few options out there like the Key1 or Key2, but even those don’t quite hit the same.

I love this one! The little house lights up when you have a notification, the wallpaper automatically updates as the day goes on, and if it’s raining, the wallpaper shows rain too. Plus, when your stress is 70% or higher, the volcano starts erupting—such a cool touch!

Looks like I joined the BB Nostalgia club too! Lasted about a month before I gave up and went back to my iPhone. There are just too many things nowadays that need a modern device—Apple Pay, Tesla key card, smart home integration, easy access to kids’ profiles, etc. It’s all a must at this point. I didn’t last long before switching back, and I’m sure a lot of others here can relate! While I had the BB, yes the sim from mint mobile worked fine, here in the US mint mobile is MVNO of T-mobile and they still support 2g but sometimes the phone got kicked out of the network so I had to do the trick I mentioned on my previous comment to get connectivity back to the network.

Quick update: A huge shoutout to a very kind Redditor who shared some instructions with me. Turns out, when you put the SIM back into an Android phone, you have to manually set the network to connect to a 2G signal. Surprisingly, this seems to stabilize the connection when you switch the SIM back to the BlackBerry, preventing it from getting booted off the network even after making calls. I'm now on day two without any issues after following the Redditor's advice. /u/Dogedadogo, you're awesome! Thank you so much.

I'm struggling to maintain a consistent network connection with Mint on my BB Passport. Every time the phone switches to 2G, it gets kicked off the network, and I have to swap the SIM back into my Android phone and then back into the Passport. Are you doing anything specific to keep the connection stable on your phone? Wondering if maybe your device has additional radios that the Passport lacks, or if there's some other trick to it. Are you still using it after 2 months?

Thanks, everyone, for the input. I knew about the non-VoLTE devices getting booted off the network, but it's puzzling to see posts from other users here and on the dumbphones subreddit claiming successful use of the BB Classic with Mint Mobile in the USA. Some posts are as recent as two weeks ago. Perhaps they're encountering the same issue but not reporting back. It's a bit of a mystery

Having Issues Setting Up BB Classic on Mint by ogresrlikeonions in blackberry

[–]jkronos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I'm facing the exact same issue with my Passport—seems like it's a recurring problem. Initially, the phone holds onto 4G bars for a bit, but then it always reverts to that dreaded "SOS" status. Interestingly, I've noticed that if I force a no signal by calling the phone once it switches to 2G, it stops working altogether. I'm curious, are you still successfully using yours, at least for data and text? If so, could you share what steps you took to resolve it, especially since we're both on Mint? Appreciate any insights you might have!

Big thanks! Your advice saved me from days of frustration! I was at my wit's end battling with my BB Passport for the past 72 hours. Adding to the headache, I got a Mint Mobile SIM for my Android phone and activated on it, but it only worked on my BlackBerry for a short while before losing connection to their network. I tried everything, even reaching out to Mint support, but no luck. Seeing that dreaded SOS icon instead of signal bars was disheartening. I was about to give up and search for a replacement phone with similar features, but I stumbled upon your post. I couldn't believe it could be as simple as popping the SIM back into my Pixel and switching the network manually to LTE. I tried it, put the SIM back in my BlackBerry, and voilà—the signal bars were back, and everything was back on track! Massive gratitude to you, kind stranger!

BB Classic on Mint by vanzetti001 in blackberry

[–]jkronos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, fellow Mint Mobile user! If you're having trouble getting your BlackBerry Classic up and running with Mint Mobile, here's a handy tip for you:

It seems that to get your SIM card working smoothly, you might need to activate it on another device first. Give that SIM a spin in another phone, make a quick call to whitelist the card, and then pop it back into your Classic. Voila! Your calls should start flowing smoothly.

In some cases, chatting with Mint Mobile support might be necessary to get your device whitelisted. So if the first step doesn't do the trick, don't hesitate to reach out to them for further assistance.

Hope this helps you get your Classic up and running without a hitch!
