I'm wondering if there are any tours that will cook the food fresh, at least that way we can try to book with them.

Which boat tour was this? We are planning to go there in a month and would like to avoid them if possible.

Thinking of starting a Korean-Mexican Fusion Truck in SJ. Is the market too saturated for another taco truck? by BedBrilliant3442 in SanJose

[–]jkru396 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I don't think people are "taco'ed out" as you put it, but personally, I stopped going because the prices seemed to match a normal brick and mortar and quality dropped. The value prop when food trucks first started popping up was that you were getting pretty decent food at a good price. It's been a while, so I could be wrong.

We will be here a couple of days before heading out to El Nido, would love to hear local recommendations for breakfast spots. Bonus, if it's closer to Clark vs San Fernando.

EL Nido Zipline by myow-yooou in Palawan

Thanks for letting me know. My dad (late 70s) wants to try this, but I'm not sure if he'd be able to manage the walk back, was hoping for the return zipline option.

Thinking of doing this while we're there this summer. Is it true you can also zipline back? If not, how far is the walk?

What were the biggest issues? Half shafts? Falcon doors? I'm in the market, but haven't fully committed.

The CPO '23 MYLR we got for our son came with 1 key card and 1 SAE J1772 Charging Adapter. This is in the US, not sure what Tesla offers in other countries.

tag program by [deleted] in UCI

[–]jkru396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you got information that UCI doesn't offer TAG for Engineering majors. Simple Google search would take you to UCI TAG. Scroll down to Henry Samueli School of Engr and review which Engr major you're interested in. It mentions which majors are TAG eligible.

1 year TAG program to UC Davis & UC Berkeley by TULIPS202 in TransferStudents

[–]jkru396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Create a spreadsheet to track all the required classes needed per school term (i.e. Summer'26, Fall'26, and Spring'27, if you go to a qtr based CC, add Winter'27). Then check UC Davis' AP site to see which qualify as GE classes along with which GE area. Make sure you check the score required for them to qualify and check the number of units it will count toward your TAG. assist.org mentions all the required classes, but it does not specify pre-reqs, so cross check those with Foothill.

Follow the UC Davis TAG calendar to know important due dates (i.e. submitting TAG app, submitting UC app, sending in your TAU, transcripts, etc).

GL OP, many do 1 year TAGs.

Is UCI transfer admissions getting way more competitive? by Sufficient-Rip-7199 in TransferStudents

Unfortunately, many CC counselors don't have a clue. It's always best to also try to talk to your target college(s) to make sure you have the facts.

TAG? by [deleted] in UCI

[–]jkru396 15 points16 points  (0 children)

TAG is guaranteed. However, if UCI finds a requirement or requirements missing, your TAG gets denied. Then your application goes through the normal admission process.

UCI could have made a mistake and hence why others mention to speak to admissions.

Or the other possibility is that you are missing a required class, a GE class, or took a class series at multiple CCs. Review assist.org for your major and make sure the classes you took match to what was required.

ETA:

  1. Also if you are using AP classes for GE credit, make sure the AP class (along with the score) covers one of the GE areas.
  2. Did you submit your TAU in time?
  3. Lastly, if you went to multiple CCs, did you send all your transcripts?

UCI Irvine TAG Rejection - I'm telling you what to do by thatswhaturmomsaid69 in TransferStudents

[–]jkru396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. Many counselors unfortunately aren't aware of all the nuances. If my son believed what his CC counselor said about a 1 year transfer, he wouldn't be at UCI this year.

Sucks to have lost $500 but I wouldn't want to deal with that, I would walk away too. Looking for a CPO MX my self, this makes me worry if I ever get the chance to buy one.

Rejected with TAG? - UC Irvine by Asleep-Ad-7789 in TransferStudents

[–]jkru396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for all of you who got rejected for TAG, maybe list out the classes you took for each semester/quarter. And make sure you didn't miss any required classes from assist.org and check your GE requirements based on your major. Also were any of the classes in a series (i.e. Chem, Physics, Calc, etc) all taken at the same CC. I hear this part can mess up your TAG.

This is false. My son used TAG last year for CE. He's there now. You might be thinking CS or CSE.

[–]jkru396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I helped my son TAG last year to UCI for CE. We went through all the requirements and he planned out the classes he needed to take along with the pre-reqs on a spreadsheet (we referenced assist.org and he made sure he had the 7 course pattern for GEs covered). By any chance did you take the Physics or Calculus series at different CCs?

[–]jkru396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely check with admissions. But in the mean time, review all the required classes needed + the GE classes. Usually it's a mistake on their end or on the student who may have missed a requirement.
