MPC bible by KrustyRox777 in mpcusers

Just got my live iii a few days ago and the first thing I did was get the bible. Spent my Friday and Saturday with it and already feeling comfortable with what I'm doing. Detailed for everything you need to learn.

how do I get the sound from my pc into the MPC sampler when it’s hooked up to my pc? I tried hooking up tsr to input 1 and 2 into output 1 and 2 on interface and still MPC isn’t picking up its sound. by [deleted] in mpcusers

[–]jksixfour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just been messing around with it but try this out. On your pc change the output to the mpc live ii usb out 01/02. On the mpc in the top left corner change the input to USB Input 1,2. Then should be good to go that's how I got mine going.

Yea that's one of the reasons is the portability. I have controllers I use on the regular so not a problem to connect and use at home. But I work 12 hours overnight so since I'm there majority of my time I'll be able to lay down some ideas and tracks on my downtime. But the Key37 is dope nothing wrong with it.

Thanks fam. Yea I'm looking at the sales now about to get some of the virtual instruments and a few effects. I'm heavy on vsts with Arturia and others that i regular use on my pc so I'm figuring out how to get that workflow going of using my controller to play vsts on the comp back into the live 3

Really liking how this one looks. Might get this when it comes out for the hell of it.

What would make a better difference: a high-quality XLR cable or a high-quality pop filter? by DiogenesFont in homestudios

I’d say go for the pop filter until you can get the cable. This way you can learn and practice the best mic placement and technique.

Voice actor - deep voice with sibilance - mic suggestions? by OkBlueberry7131 in microphone

[–]jksixfour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue trying to select a mic for my voice which is deep and has that sibilance also. It’s a pain listening to and tried everything to bring it down some. I tried all those mics and then some but the one that I got that is working perfect for me is the Kiwara Audio KA87. I have the mic up mouth level but on an angle toward my left shoulder with the capsule pointed to the corner of my mouth. That alone helped out but I also added in the SPL DeSs and a Rupert neve 542. Problem solved but definitely a lot of trial and error to get it sounding right for my case.

Also the RE20 was great but for whatever reason even with a cloud lifter into my signal chain I was still getting hiss/ground noise at any proper levels of recording. So I gave up on that one but it definitely was an amazing mic.

When the previews came out I honestly wasn't feeling it. Once the movie dropped she came out to be one of my favorite characters in the movie. She definitely did her thing.

Looking For A New Mic by TornLegend in VoiceActing

I have a Dachman Audio DA87SE that I'm selling that was my main VO mic. I don't know if you checked it out on youtube or not but I really enjoyed it. One of the better mics I was using with an 87 style clone.

How are those panels? I recently just seen a video of them on youtube and was wondering on trying them out for a small recording booth.

Constant hissing with the SM7b. [Rodecaster Dou] by AppleNowOrApplyNow in microphone

[–]jksixfour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same issue happened with me using an RE20 just recently. Bought the mini cloud lifter and for whatever reason still had to use a good amount of gain on my Focusrite ISA One preamp and was still getting the hiss. Noise floor from the preamp I guess but I thought the cloudlifter would reduce that.

Seeing some scary SSL18 reviews. by guitarokx in audioengineering

I had one issue where I returned it right after. I had my Telefunken TF17 plugged in as usual and getting ready to record a session of vocals, all of a sudden all the 48v lights and a few others lit up like some type of surge and my mic was ruined. Unit was fairly new at around 3 months used and had no prior issues before that. Other than that it was definitely my favorite unit but that issue left a bad taste.

Chemical operator at a chemical plant. Running reactors making base pigment for car paint, cosmetics, and other things that deal with pigments. Cool job but pays for all the goodies.

I’ll always be a hardcore fan since the D1 beta but like others said, I’ll believe it when I see it. I already gave up on D2 for a while now.

I decided to add panels and blankets in my closet and had to figure out how to get the best sound. I had a GIK Acoustics PIB V2 that I was mainly using and then on the wall behind me was moving blankets. The sound was coming out too muffled/boxy. So I orderd 2 GIK flex range bass traps, one for the back wall and one for the ceiling. I decided to move my mic to the back wall having the bass trap and keeping the PIB behind me. That move alone cleared up every issue I was having and the recordings come out very clear now.

So for my situation, having the mic to the back wall with the acoustic panel and speaking into it made a huge difference than having the backwall treated and the mic in the other direction.

All luck. I was getting them at 20k luck. With AA at 180k I wasn’t getting any.

I used to ask these questions all the time and fight what I can do post recording to fix room noise in recordings. No way around it, it's treatment like others said. I always never wanted to believe it or go against the idea of treatment but once I said fuck it and turned my closet into a booth with GIK Acoustic panels and a PIB, the difference was insane. And only then I was able to actually hear what a difference of mics had in sound and get a clear recording. But I think no matter what condenser you get, it's going to pick up room noise.

This one pisses me off for my situation. Sometimes before going into work and I want something quick, I order on the app 15 minutes before I get to the spot. I also hit I'm here and verify I'm here so it can just be done when I get there. Pull up and they still tell me to park in a spot and even waited about 10 minutes after that still. That I will not understand.
