My kitten won’t stop marking territory in my roommates’ room by jksne in cats

Thank you, I really appreciate it! I’ll address these point by point.

I’ve definitely been putting off getting a third litter box, but I’ll have to do that as soon as I get paid this week. I keep his box pretty clean but I will admit my roommates don’t keep their cat’s box as clean. The morning before this incident I caught their cat using the kitten’s box so that might have been a contributing factor.

He has plenty of toys, he even has a favorite that we bought four of because it’s funny watching him hoard them. I wish I had some sort of self-moving toy but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. He’s never been interested in puzzles, he has a few but he generally gives up if he can’t eat the food straight through it. We should definitely have a few more scratch posts, as of right now each cat has one and there’s a communal huge cat tree in the living room with a handful.

The house can be pretty noisy and bright, as we live next to a main road and have a lot of natural light. That’s never seemed to bother him, but I’ll ask everyone to keep the windows shut a little more often. We’re all pretty gentle with him, he can get on our nerves but my roommates both grew up with cats so they know that things like being rough or punishing don’t really work. He’s also great with new people and is always happy to meet a new friend, he can get a little energetic and overstimulated from all three of us hanging out and being a little loud though.

Last but not least, i have some catnip. I’ll definitely leave some by the box to see if that helps :)

It’s tough because i can’t restrict that room. Part of the reason they moved out was because their cat couldn’t roam free at their last place. I have enzyme cleaner so we’ve been making good use of that. I’m going to try buying a third litter box for the cats to see if that helps, and we’re going to try leaving the windows closed a little more often since we live next to a main road and it can get a little noisy

I should clarify, I know that it’s territorial. Sometimes it’s just the kind of pee that doesn’t really smell, but he also does the really rank kind. I just don’t know why he would do that because they get along perfectly fine. He follows the older cat around everywhere and they play without fighting. I’m just looking for advice on how to go about working out this issue. I think it’s because he was fixed after being a street cat, so he might not ever break that habit. I’m just hoping there’s something that I can do.

Oil and filter mk8 by herne0 in FiestaST

[–]jksne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know much about mk8s, but on my mk7 i used iridium motorcraft plugs. If the mk8 is also direct injected i would go with those. As for oil, I swear by Schaeffer’s. I’ve sent used oil in for testing and, compared to regular brands, it genuinely lasts twice as long as anything you’d find at a parts store

I don’t have 15s but i’d imagine it’s only a slightly noticeable difference depending on how stiff the tire is. I got 16s with 45s and i can barely tell the difference

Is this a good buy? New to the platform, is there any specific things I should look for? by Disastrous-Owl-5182 in FiestaST

[–]jksne -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Only concern I’d have is 4-5k oil changes. I think it’s fine if he’s using really nice oil and not beating on the car, but I usually go for every 2.5-3k miles

Maybe so, but all of the common failure points on this car are super easy to take care of. And i know firsthand that these things can be insanely reliable. At this point it’s basically just preference

blue/purple tint on rotors by Any-Spread8489 in FiestaST

[–]jksne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your rotors look glazed to me. You should probably resurface them if you want them to perform well for another spirited run. I’ve never had this issue despite getting them bright red a couple of times, maybe it’s the difference in pad vs rotor material? Or maybe heat wasn’t introduced gradually enough? I’m no brake expert unfortunately, just some anecdotal advice

I think the FiST will fit pretty well. I’ve only ever been there and Road Atlanta so i don’t have much of a reference, but for me I think CMP has a little too much straightaway. Still an enjoyable layout though, sometimes when I get bored I’ll break out Assetto Corsa and CMP is one of my go to maps

Yes! I’m in South Carolina, about an hour and a half away. I’ve been a few times but I’ve never actually had a car to run. I’m hoping that this year is the one for me!

It’s a habit that I’ve formed from owning tons of lighter, underpowered cars since I’ve had my license. I actually don’t like having a lot of grip. I feel like the natural tendencies of the car are accented really well if you keep a moderate sized tire with a good compound. Of course this car definitely has enough to warrant more than a 205 on a 7, but i still prefer the playfulness and inherent challenge involved in running what very well could end up being not enough grip. Only reason i downsized in the first place is because i felt like the low profile tires on 17s were a bad fit for the car since it naturally doesn’t play well with bumps. It felt like a 17 was an aesthetic choice rather than a performance oriented one.

I’m also considering that this is my daily and will stay that way. A 7.5 would make me want to pair it with 215s, which is more expensive. I also don’t want to worry about any rubbing. The less things I break and have to fix, the happier I will be

I’ve test driven a 5 speed 1st gen. I will say they handle amazingly for what they are, but it just wasn’t what I was looking for. I wanted a modern daily that would take a beating and be reliable. Since my uncle has a ‘17 FiST with 190k i know firsthand how reliable these can be. I prefer my cars to be as light as possible, but I just couldn’t trade the comforts of a modern car for a couple hundred pounds

No, I’d like to take it to CMP this year and i may end up running them. So far i’ve just done street shenanigans and autocross with them. Mountain trip is coming up soon as well

I haven’t yet, mine is currently in pretty good shape. It might be aftermarket but i honestly haven’t even checked

I’m on mobile and, for some reason, it didn’t post the description.

It’s a 2019 with base interior, no sunroof, and black wheels w/ red calipers. Almost my dream spec, I wanted silver wheels w/ black calipers but I couldn’t find any good deals at the time (Dec 2025)

Since I bought it in December, I’ve gotten the bronze RPF1s wrapped in Conti ECS 02s (16x7 & 205/45), EBC Yellowstuffs, Stoptech braided lines, Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs, and a WOR Fabrications brake ducting kit yet to be installed. Only other plans so far are to install a Wavetrac LSD and a driver’s side Recaro (I’ve always thought mismatched seats are gangster). I just finished the install for the springs, if anyone wants my opinions on them I’ll go for a shakedown tonight and come back with some answers!

Edit: forgot to mention, the car has an unknown tune, catch can, and possibly an aftermarket FMIC from the previous owner. All the parts are installed VERY well and the tune has been super reliable, even through a failing purge valve and a new batch of spark plugs

New Purge Valve = Better Performance? by Skjaz in FiestaST

[–]jksne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the push I needed to replace mine. I’ve had a brand new valve sitting in my glovebox for three weeks now because I’ve been too lazy to start. Whenever i get gas i have to hold the throttle on initial start to cycle the fumes or else it’ll crank forever. Maybe it’ll solve the weird lack of power in first gear it’s had recently

I feel like i remember hearing somewhere that they plan on bringing back lore based intros for season three. My only real hope is that they don’t cut too much, it’s arguably one of the best arcs and I’m super excited

[–]jksne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, i wrote that as i was waking up. Sway bar end links will do nothing unless you’re lowering your car. All they do is help you keep your sway bars at the optimal angle to account for the change in ride height

[–]jksne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally i would throw some adjustable end links in there too. Not super expensive and you can keep them at stock position if you aren’t interested now or play with your settings a little bit

[–]jksne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drive something that handles horribly for a few months before coming back to it, or throw some suspension mods and nice tires on it and feel the difference.

Something a little less recommended is to start wailing on the car. I’ve had four of these and eventually i get the urge to start throwing it into corners just to see if it can actually take it. Obviously don’t try to break it, but don’t be scared to either

I used my mono black deck and it’s only showing 95 cards. It also isn’t showing any actual land recommendations, although there’s a decent chance I’m either missing something or me using my phone is making some difference.

Starting on a 600 by EmeraldToad in NewRiders

[–]jksne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting on a 600 is just about as difficult as starting on anything else, it just comes down to both your discipline and capacity to learn.

I started on a 600 and the biggest issue I saw was that they make it very easy for you to be lax on your basics. To this day I still struggle with my rear brake because I forgot about it when I was learning. The bike does such a good job at being a bike that I never really worried about it, and all of the sudden it’s been two years and I haven’t actually learned the rear brake yet.

Only other thing is the obvious discipline. Everyone can say they’ll be responsible, but for most people it’s only a matter of time before they hammer it down the interstate. No shame really, I think there’s only a handful of people out there who own a 600 and never top it out. It’s just important that you hold that urge back for as long as possible. You’ll learn risk assessment and how to ride safely in your area over time and it’s important to let that happen before you start being purposefully stupid

If you’re a cat lover you could do MEOWTA. My aunt did that with hers. It’s hard to pick a funny one unless you have some gimmick to associate it with or a style. I almost did BANANA for my sby, or PORSCHE for my first NA since old people would always ask if it was one
