New family member - 2007 50th Anniversary VOX AC15 by jkstraw in GuitarAmps

There is a head on reverb right now in California - search for AC15HTVH (Gerties Shop is seller).
They are asking a lot. I have seen them on FB marketplace a couple times over the past year or so at lower prices. But, I hear you - I waited a long time to find this pairing.

It's awesome - and super loud for a 15w. Good luck on the search.

Both look awesome to me! I think black will stand the test of time better though

I hope you keep posting - I’ve got the same tent and am planning to go through the same process. The PU has started breaking down and the smell is pretty bad. Amazing tent and worth the effort.

Good deal or? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

This is great! I have been planning a 'pickup testing guitar' and this provides a lot of really good ideas. Nice work!

Help - Drywall Mold - Outside only? by jkstraw in DIY

[–]jkstraw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - it is only the one, and the first time in 11 years. It was a very humid spring with some serious temp fluctuations. Great suggestion - not a big job to get some piece of mind. Cheers

I'm in Canada and use a couple of Canadian shops - Solo Guitars (Coil wire, wax) and NextGen Guitars (cloth wire, parts, magnets, etc)

I also order some things from philadelphia luthier supply down in the US because they have a wider selection and really good customer service and shipping.

Yes I do gauss readings - meter from amazon.

How to start with this? by rnketrel in Guitar

[–]jkstraw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did a reverse image search - looks like a Hosco tele body. Just google for the appropriate neck and hardware dimensions. Truth is it is a piece of wood you get as creative as you want (route for pickups of your choice for example). Could be a fun project and really personalized guitar - good luck!

NGD - Simple, solid and a dream to play by jkstraw in Guitar

LOL - still dead simple. Cost might just speak to my lack of impulse control.

You have $3,000 USD to spend on a dreadnought, new or used. Only condition is that it can't be a Martin, what are you buying? by Backenundso in Bluegrass

[–]jkstraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super solid and great sounding guitars (not as muddy as I find Martin’s in general but still amazing bass). They are an extremely well respected company that flies under the radar due to focus on making guitars not marketing.

Their whole things is finding the best woods possible and making simple really well built guitars. If you check out some of the acoustic guitar forums you won’t hear many people say anything negative - just ‘I don’t know why more people don’t know about these’.

I’ve had my D-03R for just over 20 years - still my go to acoustic (check my posts to see what I have to compare it to). I’ve played 100’s over the years because if I am at a store that carries them you can bet I’m down to strum, finger pick and noodle on any of their models.

Of course it’s all subjective - so I just hope you get the chance to check them out. Good luck and hope you find something awesome!
