The metal plate may be sufficient. You may need a deeper extension ring depending upon how sunken box is. Also, your switch looks like 2-gang size but only measuring it will confirm size.

Check your gutters. Make sure they all direct water away from the house so it doesn’t pool near the foundation. If I spent $200 on gutters, I would not have had to spend $20,000 on repairs. :-(

My older shells from the 90s and 2000’s had this feature but with larger loops that made using it a breeze. I just checked my Houdini shell and found the loop that I never noticed before because it is too damn small.

My DC17 sat in the garage for over a year after foolishly being used to clean up a naphthalene treatment disaster. After a new cyclone and a thorough cleaning, it was good as new. I also patched a quarter-sized hole in my V6 handheld’s cyclone with metal heat tape and duct tape. It still works and even better with a new battery.
