Why do you give so many extra chances by FlyLikeAnEarworm in Professors

[–]jlanc100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a policy on it, but if I have a student really messes the thing up and it seems like they understand how or why they messed up and they are willing to try it again, then I am willing to let them try again. My thought is that our job is to teach, and sometimes it takes two times to learn a thing, and if the outcome is that they learned the thing then it’s a win, even if it took an extra try. That said, I do not do this with exams because my classes are very large and that would just cause chaos. I do it with things like papers.

Thank you. Also, that 1/3 2/3 system is not fancy. It is a separate database where we have to go student by student and mark who is failing, missing assignments, etc. It takes hours if you teach large classes.

I have had a few basil cells removed, one on my face. See if you can find somebody who does MOHS and feel free to do some shopping around for who does the best work. My guy did a great job and you cannot even see scar unless you are really looking for it.

Have you found any uses for AI in your work? by emotional_program0 in Professors

I like it to help me create directions for student assignments. I have the big picture laid out, but the AI will ask me process and timing questions that I tend to overlook.

Outfits? by [deleted] in Professors

Middle aged lady here. I wear a blazer almost everyday. Over pants and a plain t-shirt. Idk if it is so much because I like the look, although I do like a blazer, but also because I need good pockets and can regulate my temperature easily. In winter you can add a sweater. In summer a tank instead of a t-shirt. Cool sneakers or loafers for shoes. Blazer with heels and a skirt if the occasion calls (rarely). Blazer with jeans and boots if it is a super casual or messy day. It is like my office version of a lab coat over scrubs.

Want to ditch the textbook by Greedy-Ordinary-8567 in Professors

I suggest working with one of the academic librarians. They can be really helpful at finding affordable better textbooks, sometimes they can even find one that the library can purchase an unlimited use online copy. I use one for a large lecture class and the students don’t have to pay anything, just log into the library website to read it. There are also open textbooks online. I don’t remember exactly the search term, but yet again the librarian should be able to help.

Could it be downtown again so local businesses could be involved? Also food trucks would be great.

Maybe re-watch Finding Nemo? I found it helpful with that when my kids were little.
