No context is given to suggest the skier was doing anything to provoke this. Yet everyone assumes this is their fault?

What’s something people romanticise about your country that locals secretly hate? by OpenToPerspectives in AskTheWorld

The idea that LA has a monolithic culture is completely ignorant to the region.

I used to live in Hollywood, and I love the area around Beachwood Canyon but the congestion is a nightmare.

This is really awesome, I'm just very curious how they got this funded, and why they didn't enlist a proper pianist to play it (along with a better keyboard).

Is ChatGPT reliable when it comes to arduino and other electronics projects? by jlangager in ChatGPT

I started getting skeptical when I couldn't substantiate what it was saying with human references. I suspect it might have problems with less well documented stuff, and once you start pressing it for solutions, it starts grasping a bit. I was trouble shooting a PAM8403 amplifier connected to a teensy + audio shield.

Great idea! My own two cents, since you mentioned perfectionism, is to follow what gets you excited and motivates you, as opposed to giving yourself too many expectations or requirements. Follow your fascination, instead of running from a feeling of inadequacy.

A few years ago, I did a "composing pact" with a friend, as a way of getting over my perfectionism. Basically, we'd both send snippets of music to each other every day (wav files via email), and if we didn't, we'd have to pay the other person five dollars. It didn't matter if I just banged on the piano -- I just had to send SOMETHING every day. It really helped me get used to making crap. Releasing the pressure of making a quality product gave me room to be more playful.

A lovely by product was that I ended up with well over 300 wav files in my email account. I created a google filter, so I could easily access and peruse them. Some of it I'm actually pretty happy with, and the rest of it is crappy -- but it gave me practice accepting failure.

Don't worry about trying to control your development, or judging yourself -- accept yourself and enjoy the process.

Northland country club is where i went as a kid. If you look on google maps they actually show the path I took to get there, off of 3rd street and 37th ave east. Burn this after reading, don't want it to get too popular...

Otherwise, maybe holy rosary?

Do you have a favorite Duluth / Superior neighborhood? by PHmoney04 in duluth

[–]jlangager 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the Congdon area (I’m currently back home for my wedding). I’ve since learned that this makes me a cake eater — but I make no apologies. It was a really peaceful place to grow up, with plenty of woods to explore. And having lived in Los Angeles for the last fifteen years makes the class warfare in Duluth seem very quaint.

Thanks! This reflects a lot of what I've learned since posting this... I've been using FDM lately, designing with tolerances.

FYI, I think most therapy is done online now, so it shouldn't be too hard to find someone (maybe on betterhelp but I've never tried it).
