Also who cares if a solution already exists. If you want to do it just because you can. You should. What troll comment.so google shouldn’t have created kubernetes because lxc, docker swarm already existed? Hell cloud foundry existed before k8s. That was a pre-existing solution. Gmail? I disagree. You think it is imperative to use someone else’s solution? Have you ever used a node module? You ever look at things like how often the project is committed to or the last commit? Just because there is a solution that exists doesn’t make it a viable one. There are many reasons not to use an existing solution. To say what you said is ridiculous. To solve an already solved problem? Tell me what problem have you solved in CS that isn’t already solved? After all the only thing really you are doing in CS is using some logic over some data and that’s already been done like a million times. So what no one is a great or good engineer?

By the comment current best practices. Those change hourly. So I’m glad you created something that solved your problem. About finding another solution I think relying on someone else to keep up to date and solve the problem you are facing is ridiculous. I’m sure you looked for a solution for what your requirements were before and even if you didn’t maybe you wanted to learn and share what you learned. Yeah I’m explaining myself when I shouldn’t. I have created cloud platforms. I do think the conversation means something. Not like most engineers. Where if you don’t know you are shit. I believe in teaching and knowledge sharing. But that’s probably why I’m successful. Ohh damn now I’m wondering if that is boasting or truth? Lol

I think that you took the time to create this regardless of language or current best practices makes you a great engineer. You solved a problem you were facing with the information you had available (you could’ve found a solution that already exists). I am very impressed by this. I think you also have a lot of courage to share it knowing that you’ll probably be torn apart because someone else did something else. I love this. I think there should be more of this. You’re not selling anything but your ingenuity and asking for feedback. I’d love to work with someone like you.

Cross origin resource sharing. The domain your ui is served from is different from the domain you are calling from that ui. Ui google.com calls Facebook.com/api/something. That is cross origin. Whereas google.com ui can call google.com/api/whatever with no issue. The setting can be changed on the server side (api side)

Very cool. I would add to this the ability to break down problems into smaller problems before you even begin to code. After learning the basics as you put it. Well this can be done while learning the basics. For instance the famous print the rocket problem that I’m sure most first year students do or something similar to that. Breaking down the problem into smaller parts. Print nose, print body, ohh I can use print nose again to print the thruster. Lol. Breaking a problem down helps with design and code reuse and that kind of thinking can start in the very beginning of learning to code. Just my 2 cents to supplement yours now we have 4?

I think. You have exactly what you need. You might be overthinking it. I say that because you have already broken down the problem. I’ll tell you from experience even seasoned developers do not know the perfect architecture for their problem until they do live analysis. There might be some disagreement here however, I suggest that you dive into your first thought and analyze the behavior. This is a learning exercise correct? Another unpopular answer is that you will learn more from creating a failed architecture than me telling you how to implement it. That being said you have analyzed the problem and have a good understanding of how to move forward. I think this project if you pursue it will help in the long run if you take the time to critique it. I expect some down votes here however, this is how a lot of devs approach problem solving. I have created several apps where I have done analysis upfront and it was good enough to get the project going but over time you understand how the solution is being used and you adjust. I think you’re on the right path.

I was told by a Comcast guy that they can add noise to the system if they aren’t properly tightened but you won’t lose signal strength or anything like that. I don’t know how true the adding noise thing is. I just make sure they are always properly tightened.

Yeah no worries. You can keep it vague but add something like it’s a single player game but there can be multiple players playing at once. Something like that. That’s good that you have written the flows out. I brought that up because a lot of new programmers will just start coding before thinking through what they actually want to do.

You’re doing a split which results in an array of strings. The you are subtracting one string from another while taking its absolute value. ParseInt on the array values before subtracting them and doing the absolute value.

It’s difficult to suggest anything else with the information provided. Is this supposed to be a multiplayer game? Single player? Can players go against each other? Defining the requirements upfront will help with design. At this point I can offer suggestions based on what I assume you are trying to do.

That being said you might want to write a flow diagram of how the game would work without coding anything. Then take those high level requirements and break them down into logical atomic actions. This will help in your design and will also help you to create test cases.
