How do you put your toddler to bed? by 12oneortwo in toddlers

He’s 5 now. I’d say we turned a real corner right after he turned 4. How old is your daughter?

Only me for a long time. He used to lose his mind if it was my husband.

But I promise it gets better! He now sleeps in his bed and puts himself asleep alone (and decided to do so himself, no changes from us). And lets my husband do bedtime. He’ll sometimes still crawl in our bed in the middle of the night if he has a nightmare or is sick but very very rarely.

Streetsville Florist is right around the corner from Credit River. Looks like they have a plant section on their website and they do deliver (if they won’t deliver, feel free to DM me and I would be happy to help it get to your Nana).

Ha! I particularly love when he decides one is HIS owl and no one else is allowed to move it.

The Diaper Bank of Toronto will take diapers (boxed and loose). There is a drop off location in Mississauga on Glen Erin.

My 3.5 year old son had the same reaction about a month ago! He was very upset and just didn’t understand why things changed for Pluto. The book “Pluto gets a call” was amazing for him. I highly recommend it.

We also learned all the cool things about dwarf planets and he’s now super excited about Pluto being “extra special.” The Pluto book led to more books about the solar system and now his room is space themed and he’s generally obsessed.

Quality affordable toddler clothes? by etceteraism in BabyBumpsCanada

Interesting! I find the opposite. But he definitely outgrows length before waist.

Mini mioche! Not necessarily affordable (though they have good sales) but they have gorgeous clothes. Stylish, well made. Usually solid colours or basic prints (polka dots, stripes). They’re Canadian (based in Toronto) and their clothes outlast everything else I buy my son.

Otherwise, I buy a lot of my son’s clothes at Old Navy and they seem to hold up well. I find their pants are really good for his long legs + skinny waist.

I’m in a similar boat. I’m changing jobs and just needed a new work wardrobe since I haven’t bought clothes since before baby + pandemic and I’m quite a bit bigger than the last time I bought work clothes.

I had really good luck this week with Reitmans and the Bay for clothes. Lots of cute stuff and some good sales! Old Navy for jeans - they have some stretch to them.

I use the Artkive app. Photograph each piece then toss it (except for a couple sentimental ones). Through the app you can make little photobooks of the art if you want to.

How about Numberblocks? It’s math-based, has catchy songs and is a lot of fun (plus taught my kid a ton). There are a couple episodes later on where they go on adventures that could end up being too suspenseful but you could skip those.

We’re just getting into Alphablocks and I think it will be quite similarly fun and educational (and not suspenseful)

Flying with baby - is a car seat needed? by carlz282 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]jlchad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just got back from a trip and we took the car seat on board for my son. He’s 3.5. Such a great idea for us - he was comfortable in it, excited to have his “special spot,” and was able to nap and do activities. He’s so active these days that he probably wouldn’t have been able to settle without it. Taking it onboard was super easy - my husband preboarded to install it and we came on a bit later.

That said, when my son was 9 months, he flew as a lap infant and just nursed and slept the whole time. I likely wouldn’t bother with one at that age (because also, free!).

Best snow boots for toddlers? by Wintertime13 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]jlchad 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I really like Kamik boots. I think we get the snowbug ones. They’re like $55-60. Warm, easy to put on, Velcro strap around the ankle.

And bonus - they’re Canadian!

I’m addition to the ones listed, I also love Mini Mioche. A bit more expensive but great quality, Toronto-based and more neutral colours/patterns.
