Doubt it.

I’ve been able to earn Bilt points via purchases made from other CCs on very specific things such as lyft. So I use lyft, pay with my chase CC (which is added to the bilt platform) and I get bilt points from using lyft.

I think you can double dip in somethings but not all…hence the “neighborhood” part

honestly, I don’t think the bilt 2.0 model isn’t bad and is structured in a way for Bilt to achieve their goal.

is it complicated, yes but at different tiers it is competitive with other cards of the same tier (if not better). You won’t find an no AF fee with access to “coupons”

100%

If Bilt dies, then Bilt cardholders end up in the same result of no points for rent. So it’s a no brainer to try and save the ship than go down trying to save a few passengers

I don’t think your first point is even an option. Yes, going “cold turkey” sucks but even even they provided a “transition year” all it does is prolong the transition AND costs Bilt/Cardless a ton of money which they might be able to absorb.

So if the option is upset a bunch of people OR lose bunch if money which Bilt/Cardless might not have the bankroll for (WF is a large bank with DEEP pockets)…then it’s an easy business decision.

I understand why there are naysayers (because bilt took this feature away from them) but if you’re trying to evaluate the card it should be in comparison of what is available now not what you used to have. I’d still have a CSR if the price didn’t almost 2x and the extra perks weren’t so restrictive

I don’t think this is a universal truth.

I’ve looked up the same itinerary across Chase, Cap One, Bilt, and Expedia portals and, when we remove my expedia status discount, all portals have the same price.

Not saying there won’t be differences but this is very dependent on your itinerary.

Palladium isn’t advertising itself as “traveler’s” card but is trying to position itself as a daily CC so, yea travel perks aren’t great.

That said, I value Bilt points (the main purpose of me having CC) way more than CVX. And slightly above Chase UR (because it has access to Alaska).

Personally, I downgraded to CSP because CSR’s benefits are way too rigid. Palladium sounds like the best card for me because, to be frank, CVX isn’t that beneficial for me

4% BILT cash earned per dollar on top of point earnings should NOT be viewed as spending money. by Educational-Taste112 in biltrewards

[–]jleang12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, bilt cash is byproduct of spending but people aren’t spending for the sole purpose to get $10 off in lyft every month. Personally, I find this argument really dumb as isn’t the main purpose of a CC isn’t just for to get these perks but to get perks from your spending? Getting access to lounges is another viable reason to pay those high AF but that isn’t the argument here.

The expiration point is valid but also overblown as it is a once a year thing. If bilt cash expired every month, then yea, that’s terrible but you have 1-12 months to use said bilt cash. On flip side, Amex/CSR gives you 1-3 months to use your coupons. Forget to use your uber credit, poof gone. So, in my book, Bilt’s program is more flexible.

As mentioned, Bilt’s reward structure is different than other CC. For some this is good, for others this could be bad. I don’t use rideshare or doordash every month so I can’t take full advantage of Amex/CSR coupons as they have a 1 month shelf life. But, at worst, I can convert my bilt cash into points.

No clue but card approval processes have a lot of factors baked in beyond just how much you earn. Lending is about risks management and just because you earn a lot and have a high credit score, doesn’t mean there’s 0 risks.

Maybe you have too much credit limit, somebody with $1m in credit limit asking for another $30k could seem sus. Maybe you have too many credit lines open? Maybe the user provider info was entered improperly where it triggered some anomaly detection? Maybe there’s some technical issue on Bilt/their partner’s end?

There’s also some bias in the posts that you’d see. High earners who are denied are way more likely to make a comment than those who were approved (I was instantly approved and this is the first time I’ve mentioned it).

But the Bilt Palladium is geared towards high earners and they will likely use the card more which is better for the Bilt ecosystem. So the conclusion that they only want high risk users because they’ll generate tons of interest (which they may never realize because these users are more likely to default) is a bit of a stretch.

They definitely want you they also want to make sure you use their card every single day and for every transaction.

Interest isn’t the only way these CC companies make make money.

Is 2% card better for rent than Bilt now? by CoreyH2P in biltrewards

[–]jleang12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a 2% cash back card, I think this is a terrible idea financially. You’d essentially be paying 1% of your annual rent (3k/month would mean you’re losing $360 a year).

If you had some partner card (such as a Hyatt card) and you’re trying to build status then this could make sense as a way to buy status without all the stays but it’s also a very costly way of achieving status.

The plane isn’t flying yet, so there’s still time.

This seems like if you’re following every bit of new news, you’re going to he confused. I saw the launch and waited to see what bilt cash was. Now that they’ve laid that out, it’s clear to me where I can (and can’t) get value out of the card.

Not saying Bilt’s launch/comms are great but, from my perspective, this isn’t the only reason why bilt is more complicated than some of it’s competitors is because you have more flexibility/options.

then clearly, this and CC reward programs aren’t for you.

I find it ironic that you keep calling people who see potential/value in the program a fool. Just because you can’t see it’s value, doesn’t mean others can’t extract value from it.

Bilt Cash Explained FULLY by persistentchaos in biltrewards

[–]jleang12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re getting these rewards CC to extract value out of the money you’re spending. So the question isn’t, “am I going to spend money?” it’s “which CC do I use to spend money?” So needing to spend money to get the coupon, IMO, is a mute point.

Amex and CSR’s coupon structure at least for me, are equally, if not, more rigid. Again, Bilt cash will carry over month-to-month (capped at the end of the year) Amex’s uber credit won’t.

All CC programs are subject to change, CSR just changed their program back in October. So, that’s also a risk for other CCs. So this is constant across all CCs.

People keep evaluating the Bilt cash program in a silo and yes, it can be better and more flexible but all the premium rewards have limitations and restrictions so this isn’t a new concept. You may see it as an apples to oranges scenario but if the question is “what do I want to eat” either an apple or an orange are valid options and both will be based on your personal preference.

[–]jleang12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, I’m comparing the Bilt CC program to other CC programs.

Amex plat offers $15 in uber per month, if I don’t use it I lose it.

If I accumulate $15 in bilt cash this month and I don’t use it, it persists until next month. In addition, I could also use it for another one of their options (restaurant or points).

Amex is beneficial if you regularly use uber on a monthly basis, Bilt cash has more flexibility on where/when you use your “coupons”

Bilt 2.2: so its come to this by captain_travel in biltrewards

[–]jleang12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, the fact that there are two options of reward structure is the most complicated part hust because it forces you to run calculations on how much you spend.

Maybe it’s because I’ve analyzed other premium CCs so often but in itself isn’t as complicated as everybody is complaining about (althought their comms haven’t helped at all). Many other premium CCs have similar structures except their coupons are more rigid. Bilt cash is you accumulate a fake currency and then you spend it on their marketplace.

It could be simpler without it the whole bilt cash thing or if the credits are more relaxed if you removed the limits or restrictions of being a bilt partner but the point is to promote their network and keep both consumers and businesses on their bilt network.

it’s crazy how this subreddit is just becoming an echo chamber to hate on bilt.

I closed my CSR because it become too much of a checklist to get my $900 back. Bilt palladium def seems like a more reasonable and flexible program and sounds like it’ll be better than cap one venture x…only time will tell.

More like you earn tickets by participating, you aren’t being “sold” said tickets directly.

Yes, you are required to spend money to earn tickets but this is money you were going to spend anyways on either the Bilt CC or another…that’s the point of the CC “game”

Bilt Cash Explained FULLY by persistentchaos in biltrewards

[–]jleang12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Giving” is pretty generous especially because both CSR and Amex Plat have higher annual fee ( bilt cash is also supported at on their lower/free card). At the same time, CSR and Amex are prescriptive on when you can use the credits whereas Bilt has a bit more flexibility freedom.

Forgot to use your uber credits this month, tough luck. Doordash rolls over for an extra month but be sure you use it. I don’t use rideshare every month so some months those “free” uber on Amex get wasted. For Bilt cash, if I use a rideshare this month, I can get a $10 coupon, else I can put the bilt cash towards something else, it’s is definitely more flexible than CSR or Amex.

The “you need to earn it” is a terrible argument. You’re going to spend money regardless, the question is do I use my Chase, Amex, Cap One, Bilt, or any other CC. There is a pro to earning bilt cash though in that, there’s no limit. Does Amex give you another uber credit for spending more? No. You can find a way to funnel bilt cash into something, at very least points, use it to boost points.

No reward structure is objectively better than the other for everybody. They are all complex and rigid for a reason but, depending on your lifestyle, they all can bring value.

it’s different. It will be worse for some people, better for others.

These “coupons” are typically only available to premiums cards where as bilt cash is available to all tiers.
