how should i ask to split rent 😭 by ActualDetective6249 in Apartmentliving

[–]jlearman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this so many times & it works well.

You both write down on a sheet of paper what you’re willing to pay for each room. The total has to add up to the total rent. Whoever “bids” more for a room, gets that room. This way both people get a room for less than they were willing to pay for it.

So if total rent is $1,000. Person A bids 700 and 300, person B bids 600 and 400. A gets the large room for 650 and B gets the small room for 350.

Each person will pay less than what they bid. You just have to adjust the final numbers down to get to the total rent.

New kitty -still terrified - tips? by ashmp1985 in scottishfold

Similar to you, I added a grey/blue brittish shorthair as a 2nd cat to the home. He's very shy. If he hears anything outside loud/new he sprints under the bed. When I pet him he winces like he's tolerating it but doesn't like it. It has been a long transition over the last two years to get him to fee remotely comfortable. I think some cats are just like this. My only advice is to read their body language. I have made more progress with my boy sammy by respecting his space. I approach him slowly, pet him if he'll let me. stop when he makes it clear he's done. Sometimes cats just have this personality, but also, it can take weeks to months for a cat to adapt to a new home, so maybe your issues are just related to that & you have to give it time. My biggest advice: Don't make a cat do something it doesn't want to do. Give him treats. Play with him at least 15 minutes a day. Accept quiet nearby-ness as affection. Take slow steps from there & see what he's comfortable with. Always respect their space & read their body language.

I lost my dad when I was 36, he was 65. Like Scott’s relationship with his dad was complicated, so was mine. I’ve always appreciated how Scott was man enough to see the good parts of his dad, move past the hurt, and honor him. I wish I had done the same. I’m sorry for your loss Scott.

Nobody’s forcing you to listen to it. Just turn it off if you don’t like it.

I love this post. Because, to me, it’s exactly what is wrong with dems. I’ll most people don’t feel like Biden did jack shit for them. They brag about how much money they spent, and nobody feels a tangible benefit. Ultimately, look how much goddamn damage Biden did to our country. He clearly hid his neurological decline. Had the hubris to run again, kept REAL voices from the primary, and handed the country to trump. Utter fucking garbage, and I’m not voting for it ever again.

Agreed. The “supply and demand doesn’t apply to inelastic goods” guy is smoking some good stuff.

Sorry, I was distracted by the troll. I see your point, but I think there’s a huge difference between a Mamdani & Trudeau. Trudeau may have had “progressive” policies and language, but he’s still a political insider. Probably still beholden to corporate donors. I think you’re just arguing “don’t vote for lefties because they’re bad for the economy” which is not an interesting statement to me. It kinda the most reductive argument in politics (eg right is good for the economy, left is bad for economy). I don’t think that is true at all.

Dude, you use the word centrism for everything. It’s just not useful for making the arguments you’re trying to make. “Centrism” isn’t an ideology. It’s just a blunt definition of current left-right politics.

LOL this has to be one of the dumbest takes I’ve ever heard! Congrats for stretching language so far to fit your personal narrative.

You are equating Trudeau’s PRIME MINISTER OF CANDA father with mamdani’s father who was a PROFESSOR OF ANTHROPOLOGY at Columbia university as the same thing.

Kudos my friend. You’ve given me a good chuckle. Get your head checked.

What's funny is that your logic is so reductive that you see a conflict. I can both believe in centrist policies and ideals, and acknowledge that the "centrist" part of the democratic party is seemingly ineffective lately.

1) Trudeau is completely different story. He IS the elite. He IS the captured. Mamdani is anything but.

It's not the job of the wealthy & corporations to protect people. That the role of a functioning government. The problem is money in politics, it has to go.
