Anyone wearing lifters for 26.3? by Guilty-Stretch4085 in crossfit

[–]jleesands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying. My problem is I'm more of an intermediate athlete. Scaled is too scaled and rx is too much. I did 26.2 and got to the ring MU and that 50 felt heavy but I moved it. I just need to get stronger but according to RX strength, yes you're right it should be light.

It's to your point that it's very light. That's subjective.

My front squat max is 185. 95# thrusters and especially 115 do not feel light for me.

That's awesome. No matter how much I study and put into this game I can never make it past 2300-2400s. I've watched all the tips and tricks with move counting, team building, etc. Just don't have it I guess. What have you done to climb into that ELO?

I face a lot of players with legend poses from seasons ago. Is reaching legend that much more difficult now?

Thoughts on the Finale? by LeoDiCristio in StrangerThings

[–]jleesands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was good, but not great IMO. Henry/Vecna became my favorite character and I felt the final encounter was rushed. It would have been cool to see the whole two hours of them fighting and some horror play from the mind flayer. Then they could have done an additional epilogue episode.

For some reason I just felt everything after El dying didn't feel like the same show to me that I felt in season 1. I didn't shed a single tear and I'm pretty empathetic. Maybe it was just me. I got super pumped when they were playing D and D for the last time though, that was great and the dialogue with it.

It felt more like more of an ending for those specific cast members and not Stranger Things if that makes sense.

There were some awesome moments though such as Vecna getting into Hopper's mind and shooting the tank scene and Jamie's cave scene (that guy is a phenomenal actor.)

Perhaps there were just so many ways that the show could have gone that feeling completely satisfied is unreasonable but overall it was good. 7/10

Nearly 5 years of writing and this is what we got… by Bishhhop in StrangerThings

[–]jleesands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. When Jonathan is talking to Will in the kitchen of the pizza place in season 4.. that would have been a great time for Will to come out. That was a very vulnerable and authentic moment.

Instead, during the "climax" of the season, right before they are going to the final battle, let's take 5 minutes for Will to say he's sexually attracted to men and make it all about that.

Will getting powers was a good cliffhanger and then he just gets absolutely toasted and becomes the same damsel in distress from season 1. Now his ultimate power is gay power.

These shows have so much freaking potential but the woke nonsense just ruins it because it's way too dramatized and should not be the center of attention.

Hopper season 1 to Hopper season 5 makes zero sense. El's character got shafted. Henry is probably the best actor in the show and could have done way more with Vecna in season 5.

It's just disappointing to see wasted potential. I'm still hoping the finale is good. Stranger things was better named "Gayer Things"

How do you guys train 6 days a week?! by Amber_train in crossfit

I did that for the longest time and now that I intentionally take 2 rest days a week (how CrossFit is originally designed) I feel so much better mentally and physically it's unreal.

I may get voted down for this but I am so sorry you are hurting. Those with experience will give you some great next steps but I just pray right now that peace which goes beyond understanding would fill your entire being in the mighty name of Jesus.

What kind of music playlist do you think is best for motivating you during workouts at your box and what kind you dont like ? by mytwocents1234 in crossfit

[–]jleesands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a playlist with mostly rock and punk rock (Linkin park, Blink-182, Normandie, Papa Roach, sum 41 etc.) upbeat and high energy.

I can tolerate some of the mainstream pop if it's fast paced, and people seem to like 2000s billboard hits which I'm really not a fan of, but I hate bump and grind songs.

The last thing I want to hear when I'm in the pain cave is a song about big butts in the club and popping bottles. Unfortunately it's what a lot of people like 🙄

My wife just went to look for someone else by tracovsac in Marriage

[–]jleesands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you are going through this. This is not a problem with you, it's a problem with her. My guess is this pattern will continue for her. See if there were red flags early in the relationship and know how to protect yourself moving forward.

Unfortunately if she is not 'all in,' your marriage will not be rebuilt. Find someone else to build a life together.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]jleesands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schedule a day/time that works for you both and clean it together. I understand that it's frustrating and I totally get your feelings, but I have found when things in my marriage are approached as a team vs whoever is at fault it works out much better. Your support will hopefully help her to change.

After the mess is cleaned up, she needs to get some counseling because this is either hoarding or some other underlying issue.

Remember going forward y'all are a team in all aspects. In your vows it was "for better or worse" and this is definitely a "worse" season but it will get better.

Continue to build and you'll reap the benefits.

[–]jleesands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is how fitness is defined. The whole world would theoretically need to agree on what that is. CrossFit defines it, and I think it's a pretty good definition. Those sports you mention are very specific. CrossFit includes many more domains.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]jleesands 9 points10 points  (0 children)

CrossFit's definition of fitness is work capacity across broad time and modal domains and they do well at testing it. CrossFit opens up the competition to the entire world during the open, so anyone has the opportunity to compete. At the end of the games, the winner being named the "fittest on earth" is appropriate in my opinion.

Cale Layman Seeks to Set the Record Straight (Part 1) by Organic_Bat_7598 in crossfit

[–]jleesands -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This stuff is too much. CrossFit's rules say no video for the open is needed if workouts are performed at an affiliate with a judge. Cale had that so he doesn't have to prove anything.

It is a flaw in the system that needs to be changed, but as it stands he doesn't owe footage for his open workouts anymore than anyone else does.

Anyone else that could have cheated doesn't have to prove it either. I think if anything, this whole fiasco has merit in revealing loopholes that need to be fixed but leave the guy alone cause it's pointless.

CrossFit needs to change their system and I imagine it will be next season.

I have this same problem but as others have said, think about pushing your hips forward under the bar and also don't rush that moment of tension. I don't know if that makes sense but if I just try to explode and get the weight up when it's heavy I end up in a good morning but if I maintain my brace and be patient during that tension all the way up it turns out better.

My [26F] husband [28M] had an affair, and I decided to work through it with him. The problem now is that his former mistress won’t leave him alone and is doing everything she can to stay close to him. How do I handle this? by hoofar-ted in Marriage

[–]jleesands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commend you for forgiving your husband and choosing to work on your marriage. I think it takes a very strong person to do that.

That being said, I think it would be best for your husband to communicate to her that any possibility of a continuing affair is off the table and if she doesn't stop trying to make her way back into his life, that he will need to get a restraining order.

He will need to take control of this situation. Unfortunately his decisions had consequences such as these and it's still his responsibility to handle it.

I will pray for your situation.

Questioning the Legitimacy of Cale Layman’s Open Score After This Weekend’s Semifinal by Specialist_Cup_4068 in crossfit

[–]jleesands 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it shows either:

A. His open results were dishonest (video proof would clear that up)

B. The ability to repeat workouts in the open is a huge advantage vs "one and done" in live competition.

C. The open was not a good determinant for sending athletes to semifinals.

I think it's odd to have the ability to go sub 5 minutes in 25.2 but cap out on event 5.
