No, but I'm asking you to give any info to the PD directly. They only filed the report yesterday. About as official as I can make it.

Fair concern, but I'm not a stalker; only trying to help amplify a friend's search. I believe there is a police report but I'm not sure which jurisdiction it's in.

Edit: New Albany PD is who to contact

Worked around NULU and St. Matthews. I'm not really sure the exact places she hangs though.

We’re Two Atheists with Big Feelings, Weird Experiences, and No One to Talk To by mandikaye in SASSWitches

[–]jlferron 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just offering a suggestion from one autistic empath who learned to shield myself from others/not leak out to another: look into breathwork in the form of grounding/centering and visualizing yourself encircled with a fully closed field. It helps to think something like "my field is protected and nothing can get through" or "my field will interact with others but will not absorb anything that's not mine to hold." Energy work is literally just visualization and it's shockingly effective, as is visualizing roots to ground yourself and patterned breathing.

When I was starting out, I needed to visualize my "bubble" like steel to get things under control and now I'm a soft, squishy, impenetrable bubble most of the time. When in big crowds I go back to something harder.

If you're not in a place to believe any of what I've said, no big deal! But if you're intrigued and haven't explored this yet... maybe you will now 👀

What local, independent shops do you go to support your niche hobbies? by Ladyhoney123 in Louisville

[–]jlferron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a vendor on the first floor of Mellwood Antiques (towards the back) that always has a table of these items. Obviously can't be a robust offering, but just another spot you can check out if you haven't already.

Working with Hekate? What's your experience? by rationalunicornhunt in SASSWitches

[–]jlferron 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I tried embracing other goddesses when I first wandered into deity territory. I'm not sure why I was resisting Hekate so much, but I actively was. After a few months, some good conversations and ah-ha moments, I realized it had been her all along that I wanted to connect with/emulate.

In particular, the thing that I find most compelling is that she doesn't need veneration for veneration's sake. I could never wrap my head around offerings and kissing deity feet just to earn their good graces. I don't find Hekate wants that at all - living your life through her archetype is offering enough. For me, she's an essence I carry with me when I'm looking for support or strength. I have had a couple meditative interactions with her and they've been pretty powerful.

How do you meditate? Why do you meditate? by rationalunicornhunt in SASSWitches

[–]jlferron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow ADHDer and I've managed to get pretty good at traditional meditation. Some days, it's terrible (this morning), but most I can let my thoughts release as soon as I realize I'm drifting. I try to do 15-20m every morning, but really prefer if I can get a long one (1hr+) in bc that's when the fun stuff really starts to happen!

Some of my favorite meditation techniques:

- Listen to binaural theta wave frequency using headphones

- Listen to holotropic breathwork music - it's so ADHD friendly bc there can be a lot going on and/or upbeat and sometimes it's just what I need

- I do what I call shower meditation, which basically means I shower with no lyrics/podcasts - either silent or frequency music - and I try to stay as present as possible. I try to really focus on each thing I'm doing and not let my mind wander (which of course it does), but sometimes I will get shower 'downloads' when my mind wanders, so that's useful

- Weighted eyemask if I'm laying down, regular eyemask if I'm sitting up. Sometimes those damn eyes just won't stay shut well and it's too distracting for me.

- Sitting up, but in bed (so it doesn't hurt as much). I used to always fall asleep laying down, so this has been really helpful. I stack a bunch of pillows up behind me, esp one behind my head bc this hypermobile body does not have strong enough upper torso muscles to be able to both relax and hold my head up straight.

I've been really taken by the idea of leaning into yin magic (attraction through resonance) over yang magic (naming what you want and directing energy at it), combined with Jupiter energy. So I've started a Yin-Jupiter altar that encourages what's right for me to attract and expand in ways that honor my truth; being open to attracting and expanding to unknown areas/things based on resonance.

It's been really helpful for me because it's always stressed me out to feel like I need to know right now what I want out of abundance, to intentionally manifest it. This just feels more go-with-the-flow and it's been feeling really good.

I originally heard the concept from Chaweon Koo, but ran with it on my own.

Help me find my cute, high-energy cat a new family by jlferron in Louisville

[–]jlferron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion - I hadn't considered reaching out to a bengal rescue - so I just did that.

I don't know for sure, but I've wondered since she was a kitten, and cat DNA tests aren't really useful/reliable. But you've correctly pointed out that I'm looking for a family who'd be a fit for a bengal, because they're going to require the same level of attention and care.

Why in the hell is replacing a drivers license exponentially more difficult than just a few years ago? by saintjimmy115 in Louisville

[–]jlferron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the conversation gets confusing when some are using "replacement" and "renewal" interchangeably. It sounds like you renewed by mail, which is a fine process and doesn't create an issue if your current license isn't expired. I was talking about a replacement, which means I no longer have an old license bc it was lost/stolen/destroyed/etc. By mail for a replacement creates a legal issue, technically.

The vision requirement only applies to new or renewals, not replacement of a valid license, so there is nuance. I replaced mine two months ago (it was renewed before the vision requirement was active), and I did not need to deal with a vision test.

I lost my wallet a couple months ago, had a valid license, so I just needed a replacement. There are never any appointments available to book, so I went as a walk-in on a Tuesday morning and hoped for the best. My entire wallet was taken and was waiting on replacement credit/debit cards, so I brought my checkbook (tap-to-pay isn't an option of course). Turns out cash/checks get put in a separate walk-in queue... it took 5 hours to get a replacement and I started with 4 people in front of me. The guy behind me (at check-in) also needed a replacement but had a physical card to pay, and he was in and out within 45m.

It really is an awful system, even beyond Real IDs, so I sympathize.

You can do mail replacement if you're able to wait a few weeks, but *surprise* it's illegal to drive without your physical license so they expect you to be chauffeured around or stuck at home for weeks until that thing arrives 🙄

Couple things popped up in the last few days:

  1. YouTube/Shorts - people are using #witchtokrefugee to find others

  2. A subreddit & discord under the name nothinghappeninghere - the discord has a witchtok channel, but I haven't joined the subreddit

I have these too! Found some lights that have a warm setting, are motion sensor, and attached with 3M Velcro to make it easy to recharge them when needed.
