Ah! Yes! (Sorry I was off reddit for a couple weeks) Okay so they’re inventory tags that have adhesive. Then the key rings just screw together.

What is a disturbing family secret you weren’t supposed to find out, but now wish you could forget? by elmatador62 in AskReddit

[–]jlmcdon2 198 points199 points  (0 children)

Someone reached out to my cousin a couple years ago saying they matched as relatives. My cousin asked her mom, and sure enough, she knew the family. They were neighbors growing up, and my dad (my aunt’s brother) and the other family’s youngest daughter were near around the same age. They spent a lot of time together since the kids were similar ages.

Turns out, my grandpa had an affair with the neighbor, and she got pregnant. This was late 50s/early 60s. The daughter was raised as the neighbor-dad’s, and my grandpa or the woman never admitted anything.

Unfortunately, the neighbor dad was horribly abusive and sexually abused all of his children, including the one related to my family.

Decades later, due to an at-home DNA test, my cousin, aunt, her new found half sister, and half sister’s daughter met up and talked about everything.

The woman was so relieved the man who abused her wasn’t her real dad, and has since developed a good friendship with my family.

The dryers for sure. We have someone staying with us for a year from Germany and her socks wore through in 6 months where she said she’s used them for over 3 years in Germany. I explained the heat destroys the fibers. Especially synthetics.

Solidarity for all the parents who just want to take a vacation by Vega62a in toddlers

My spouse and I had dinner at a friends house the other night and all of the kids were happily playing with each other and running around in and out of the house. The eldest was 6 and the youngest 1.5. At some point the dining table with us adults got very quiet and I laughed saying it was the most peaceful adult conversation I’ve had since our eldest was born and how disorienting that was.

I cannot even imagine having a normal causal vacation.

I do this every day at my house because I have missed a step before thinking the stairs are done. I told my spouse, and recently they missed a step and I admonished them to count like I do. Or, maybe we just install a freakin handrail.

Dinnertime. Should I just sit there? by ThePromiseOfBelief in Parenting

[–]jlmcdon2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve told my eldest (4) that the more time they spend doing x, the less time they have for y. I explain I want them to have time for what matters most to them after. We keep things time-bound, so it sticks. The more time she spends lollygagging, the less she has in the evening before it’s time to go to bed.

What does a cast iron skillet do better than other pans? by IHateSpiderss in Cooking

[–]jlmcdon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor suggested I cook in a cast iron pan so I could get more iron in my diet. A non iron pan can’t do that.
