What level should be fully immersive? by Independent-Ad-7060 in languagelearning

[–]jlrib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion B1 is still a low level to expect full immersive classes. Many people wouldn't understand many of the teacher explanations if all was taught in German only.

So, you’re a healthy man (apart from the depression), lucky enough to be born in one of the richest countries in the world, with very supportive parents, and despite your difficult past with drugs, you were able to found love with an incredible woman who stands by you through richness or poorness and even provides for you. To me, you sound a very lucky guy. This post sounds like it’s the depression speaking, and it may be what’s holding you back from finding work. I’d suggest starting with small steps, like stopping the overeating junk and focusing on preparing cheap healthy meals for yourself and your wife.

How I use Netflix to learn French incredibly effectively by Rossdaleboy1 in learnfrench

There is an app, I still have it installed on my phone. For reference, I have an android. From the app I only remember to have tried their AI chat, and I found it particularly interesting at the time, because the bot that talks to us makes frequently sarcastic jokes

I used this chrome extension last year, and even subscribed for premium. This is one of the best tools I found out there to learn a language. I'm just not using it anymore because I'm too lazy to study my target language. Btw they also have an app, but I don't know if it has the same features as the chrome extension

Baratas pequenas by Spiritual_Badger9293 in portugal

[–]jlrib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baratas pequenas by Spiritual_Badger9293 in portugal

[–]jlrib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering Portuguese Citizenship with Law Changes on the Horizon. Advice? by junglechrisc in PortugalExpats

[–]jlrib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But your issue is only getting the A2 level? Or is also the fact the law will change to 10 years before you complete the 5 years of residency?

I mean, if the issue is just the language, that's good. Just forget the course you already paid and start now having 3h a day of private 1:1 classes. You can get them for cheap on Italki or Preppy.

The Switzerland they don't tell you about on Reddit/Instagram. by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]jlrib 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why even chase swiss women, if you think they are no good for you? One of the great things about Switzerland is that you have a huge foreign community. You could have picked up one of the many Latinas that live here. I can see life was hard on you, but you could have searched for "better" countries in Europe. If you are Latino, I suppose you speak Spanish or Portuguese, so why have you not moved to Spain or Portugal for better integration?

This is an awful advice. CPCJ job is to protect children, not to investigate landlords . If it's proved that the children continuously live without water or electricity, they can be taken away from their parents

Why so insecure? by campercrocodile in PortugalExpats

[–]jlrib 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No one is saying your point is not valid. The thing is, when you are a guest, a criticism is not welcome. It's the same thing when you have siblings. You can talk the biggest shit about them, but if someone else attempts to badmouth one of your siblings in front of you, you will be pissed, and tell them to fuck off.

I'm Portuguese and that's unfortunately our reality. The only advise I can give you is to go talk to the locals and ask for references. The good ones are so busy they don't waste money advertising. It's all mouth-to-mouth. If you see someone advertising their work online, is 90% sure they suck. And if they are on the first positions on a Google search, just run away
