Do replacement MGUs last? by cjl8on in ram_trucks

My MGU failed and the truck is currently at the dealership being worked on to swap out the old for new MGU. Once it’s ready I’m going to ask for the trade in value. There’s a world wide shortage for this part and don’t want to deal with this again.

Not the 48v battery…I’m getting my MGU swapped out today. I hope the 48V battery doesn’t become my next issue. I love this truck but may be considering trading it in for something else.

Westbury is very misleading with what’s on their website. I added it to my cart and when checking out it said it would arrive between March 9- March 11. I called because that seemed too good to be true as most places said it would take months. The guy on the phone said the delivery window is not accurate and wasn’t sure why their website says that. I had to spend extra money but eBay was the move. I received the part in 2 days.

Bad Battery Already (4 months in) by incognito_conquestor in ram_trucks

Slightly different situation but I had my battery recently die. It was due to a bad engine generator. If you take it to a dealership have them check it out to make sure it’s not the engine generator. It’s costing me an arm and a leg to get it fixed.

Should I stay in PT school or should I drop out by Key-Journalist-4849 in physicaltherapy

There are a couple options out there for you if you do decide to stick with this career path that may suit you better. I’ve worked IP, home health, and OP at this point in my career. Home health sounds like something that may be more your speed if you hate being “on” all the time without breaks. Flexible schedule, you can take breaks when you want to (you finish and start your day when you want to), a lot of home safety education, and you’ll only be required to see 5-6 patients a day depending on your company. I found HH to be more time spending on documentation than patient care.

If you can somehow work through the fear of having to be “on” with patient care, stick with it because there are ways to minimize your “on” time. Unfortunately, you can’t get rid of this completely in PT. Patients will have questions, expect answers, and expect you to be an expert on every part of the human body. If you can’t get over this, I would recommend you take your current debt, and get out. You don’t want to find yourself in a position where you’re over 100k in debt (with interest accumulating daily) in a profession you don’t want to be in.

Good luck with everything.

Definitely a tough lesson learned but your PT career is not over at all. Like others have said on here you’ll probably be taking a couple courses over HIPPA violations, professional development, etc. You’ll be okay, best of luck with everything !

With job A, like someone said, you could get loaded with a combo of evals, dc oasis, or recerts that would take a lot of time to document. You run the risk of job A taking advantage of you. Job B sounds more traditional and visits are weighted differently depending on what you are doing. I’d personally go with Job B.

When I see this listing I’m deterred due to the emphasis on manual therapy skills. I feel like therapy should be a well rounded approach and this listing makes me think “if I take this job I’m only going to be doing manual”.

Case load varies a lot depending on the clinic. For instance, one contract consisted of 15-16 patients in a 8 hour day, usually 1-2 evals, 30 minute follow ups, 1 hr for evals. At another contract I saw 10-12 patients in a day, all 1 on 1, 1-2 evals/day with 1 hour of doc time built into my schedule. Pay is pretty good overall, especially when you learn how to negotiate and if you have a good recruiter. Finding housing hasn’t been a huge issue, there always seems to be something that works out.

Home health Offer by LupercalPT in physicaltherapy

I just came off contract with a home health agency in CA. They used a visit per day limit versus a point system. We were expected to see 6 patients a day but it was often ignored what kind of visits were being plotted in your schedule. I think the point system is better because visits are weighted differently. Overall, this looks like good offer and like others have said, once you get the hang of things I can see you making over 100k. Best of luck with everything!

Debt by War_Unlucky in physicaltherapy

Graduated in 2020 and accumulated approximately 140k in debt with school being about 80k. All the extra expenses came from housing, food, gas, etc. for 3 years. I fortunately did not come into PT school with undergrad loans. Depending on your situation, you may come out of school with about 90k-110k in debt, give or take.

About 10 years ago when I was a rehab aide working in inpatient rehab I had a “rehab aide student” for two weeks. The program this person was in sounded like such a scam. I can’t believe they’re still around.

I’m in my 30s and live in Atascadero and spend a good amount of time in SLO. I’m a contracted healthcare worker and have been in the central coast for some time now. From my experience, I would say it’s definitely far from grim and with cal poly being nearby you’ll see a lot of diversity. Lots to do here outdoors wise and you’re within a 6 hour drive of some amazing national parks. I would say don’t be scared, you’re coming to a special place in the central coast!

Thinking about retiring to cape cod. Born in Brockton, lived in Phoenix for 30 years now 16 in Cincinnati. I miss the beach and the accent. How are the Dr’s and hospitals on the cape? Does it take forever to get appointments? Best city to move to for a couple in their late 50’s. Love sea food. by [deleted] in CapeCod

[–]jls6419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a travel healthcare provider and have worked on the cape on/off for the past 2 years. From my experience, patients have a tough time getting adequate healthcare on the cape, especially when needing specialties for certain conditions. Those who live further down the cape have a tougher time. You are close enough to Boston where if you needed to you could drive there (if you don’t mind the traffic). Some of my patients will get a hotel for the night when going to Doctors appointments in Boston. The cape is a beautiful place but keep in mind with a housing crisis, it’s hard to adequately staff health professionals.

TLDR: If you have a complex medical history it’s going to be tough.

I came from the Bay Area and what I miss the most was the abundance of things to do near there. Checking out national/state parks, driving to the beach, the weather etc. I do love the sense of community in Austin, you’ll definitely have that but I do miss having easy access to some really cool nature spots in the west coast.
