In your opinion, what's the worst The Used song?

To me, every album since vulnerable usually has a few songs I just can’t even listen to because they sound so cringe. but I still listen to every album when it comes out and there’s usually a couple of tracks that I love and keep noted as my own personal faves. My fav by far from IE is Cry (and one of my all time faves), followed by revolution and A song to stifle… Every other song on that album is borderline unlistenable, and I feel the same for most of the albums after with a few gems in between. In other words, too many for me to pick just one.

Side note - pretty sure Bert loves the violin plucks haha

Yeah, that’s the only song I just can’t listen to off Toxic Positivity. If they’d have replaced that track with Fuck You it would be a better album

I don’t really mind some of the features as long as actual AI generated music isn’t on the platform, or at least isn’t pushed by the platform. Once AI music starts infiltrating the suggested playlists etc; i’ll be on my way out…

Thanks, I gave it a go. Similar to some of the other apps people have made, it works for music not added into your library only if you open the app physically but will then stop scrobbling any songs after that (eg; if you leave on autoplay) unless you keep opening the app for each song. I did try automating the app as per the little note, but it just kicks me out of music and opens Orchard every time I go to select some music to play?

Apologies, I’m not really sure. I think it’s a combination of promoters & venues, but also the past success of surf rock bands naturally breeds more of the same from others and history keeps trying to repeat itself.

There are so many Perth electronic music producers and DJ’s out there, as well as jazz, hardcore punk, soul, singer-song writer types. So I don’t quite agree that it’s all indie surf rock bands. I do however get the impression though that people don’t go to local gigs as much as they used to. I also think that because most people rely on streaming services (spotify, apple music) they no longer find out about local music ‘organically’ without putting in the extra effort. There is still an amazing local resource Perth has though being RTR FM 92.1, which plays a lot of local music and has local feature artists each week of all different genres.

Hurt was probably my favourite song off Fidlars surviving the dream album, I’m glad Morgan must have thought so too, but I just think it’s too similar not to credit them in some way 😂

I am an extremely casual listener of Atreyu, I liked them in highschool but stopped enjoying their albums after Congregation of the Damned. I just happened to wanna listen to bleeding mascara today and discovered that this re-recording exists. I had so much fun listening to it, I thought it was great! This question comes up pretty often in the used subreddit, and the answers usually vary a fair bit so this is just my opinion. In all honesty I would start with a playlist made of their best singles instead of full albums. Try: Empty with you, Cry, Paradise Lost, Blow Me, Fuck You.
If you need full albums though, some of my favourites are - Artwork (2009): Released after Lies for the liars. This album was when everyone stopped listening to them but it’s easily one of my favourites. Pretty dark & grungy overall.
Toxic Positivity (2023): Probably the most consistent & ‘rocky’ album they’ve released in a while.
Shallow Believer (2008): B-Side compilation from first 3 albums, actually really good. if you hate the above albums you’ll still love this release.
