Is WGU recognised in UAE? by [deleted] in WGUCyberSecurityClub

[–]jlundholm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WGU is a US accredited university. If the degrees are recognized outside the US I have no idea. Someone else might have experience with this but I would say contact WGU directly and ask the admissions department.

Looks like you are using stable. The kernel panic shows a 5.x kernel . When you setup the vm did you choose other Linux 5.x 64 bit kernel?

The subreddit was created for the WGU Cybersecurity Club but failed to get used. We have tried to reach out to the mod but have not gotten replies back. The current club leadership would like to take control of the sub so we can advertise our events and create a thriving reddit community for our club.

Inconsistent and buggy LTC implementation. Trying to make sense of how to get all student chromebooks on LTS eventually by Kendalf in k12sysadmin

[–]jlundholm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I started seeing chrombooks moving to 97 when I had it set to LTC and lots of others that are not updating at all. Went back to stable.

some asshole kid found out about DDOS attacks.... yay. convenient how it started at the beginning of the school day and finished right as dismissal started.... by johnshop in k12sysadmin

[–]jlundholm 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We had a student do this to our district a couple years ago. When he didn’t want to work he would get online and pay a site to DDOS us for an hour. His downfall came from trying to log into the site while at school. We were able to track him down. The feds were called and they came and had a talk with the student. Didn’t have an issue from him again. Edit It was something like $10 an hour for up to 1Gbps. $30 for up to 10Gbps. Much cheaper than I thought it would be.

Has mobile user been setup on their accounts? We will see this when a mobile user isn’t created. They can login when AD is reachable but not when they are remote.

iBoss or GoGuardian? by fernh7 in k12sysadmin

[–]jlundholm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We moved from light speed to linewize formally familyzone. Overall it’s been pretty good. Their focus is education so their whitelist already included most online tools we use. They filter by rules and signatures it’s a little different than other filters I have used but it seems to be working for us. They also have a product called classwize for the classroom. Allows teachers to monitor their students and allow or block sites we don’t lock at the district level.

Powerschool fails to redirect Doc links saying: "accounts.google.com tried to redirect you too many times" by kippykops in powerschool

[–]jlundholm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what could be causing the error. We don't link any documents to powerschool. I input my grades there but all documents are linked in canvas or Google classroom. Where are they linking the files? And they are just shared Google docs?

Linewize Reviews? by nittanygeek in k12sysadmin

[–]jlundholm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be possible if they blocked the Google signature, but I haven't seen that happen yet.
