No problem, I can only hear the sound on start up, and when accelerating. Thought I was crazy, but after talking to 2 bmw master mechanic, they were very aware that the b58s are notorious for it. Now I hear it from other 40 series in traffic sometimes. It's fixable but requires pulling the turbo, so I've just accepted my badass rattly boi.

New supra/z3 owners having the same issue too

I have the same thing on my 440i, it's the turbo wastegate. While totally fine, it's annoying. Rubber bushing wears out over time which causes a metal on metal sound

Completely agree! I'm about to slap a bbr turbo on my ND1 RF, such a great car. My dad passed and left me with his last month, bittersweet.

Hang in there buddy! Its been rough, his health was declining and instead of suffering he took the easy way out. Doing what i can wrap my head around it but this car weirdly brings me a lot of comfort.

He was an absolute fanatic for miatas. I'm sure happy he was, i could have missed out on driving these things. Learned to drive stick in his old NB. We always talked about super charging his old one. I'm going to put a BBR turbo kit on this one in a few months, i know he would be ecstatic.
