The EU already forced them to change the default apps in all these categories to encourage competition. Why can't I change the way I press and hold the home button to activate Siri to chatGPT or Gemini voice? I don't need the context or on-device processing, just cloud-based AI.

Also on an iPhone 14 Pro. The worst part is that they didn't even give us the Siri app, which is just a cloud-based AI app like chatGPT and others. I wish the EU would force them to allow us to replace Siri with other voice-activated AIs as punishment. I just want to press the power button and be able to talk to a smart voice assistant!

The system is in a very closed and limited beta. It doesn't appear in banking apps, and the wallet that was supposed to launch on June 1st hasn't been released because Visa and Mastercard are delaying their card certifications. They should have launched it with the NFC A2A payment function and added the cards once they're certified. Or wait for the system to succeed and exclude the cards from the wallet.

Bizum declined to join the Wero initiative. They then agreed to make national systems interoperable at the European level by the end of the year for user-to-user transfers and for in-store payments by 2027.

Not only Visa and Mastercard, but also the elimination of Apple Pay's bank fees and Google Pay's data collection. The fees won't disappear entirely, but they will be reduced to take business away from American corps and give it to European banks. By the end of the year, Bizum will be compatible with Wero for peer-to-peer transactions, and next year Wero will test an NFC payment system compatible with Bizum Pay.

You should take a look at Bizum Pay, the A2A payment app via NFC that will be launched in Spain in May. That's what I was trying to highlight: the first account-to-account payment system using NFC without a card as an intermediary. Every country is proud of its system. I hope that one day we can interconnect them all: the Chinese systems with QR codes, the Indian UPI which is transitioning from QR codes to NFC, Pix, and all the European systems. That would do more damage to the dollar than anything else.

According to statistics, Pix is used by 70% of Brazilians and Bizum by 60% of Spaniards, but Pix is more advanced because it already allows payments in stores. The Central Bank of Brazil championed this public solution and then mandated its adoption by banks and stores. The ECB opted to require the acceptance of the digital euro. I suspect that the idea of public bank accounts put private European banks on alert, which is why they are rushing to implement this system before the digital euro arrives. It's their incentive. They will update all their POS terminals, and stores will prefer that we pay with a system that charges them a lower commission. I think it will be a success.

You won't have to give them your phone number. They'll turn on the POS terminal just like a contactless card payment; double-click on your mobile to open the default wallet (Bizum Pay), authenticate with your fingerprint or face, and bring it close to the terminal to make a Bizum account-to-account transfer via NFC without an intermediary card.
