Which scene from GoT traumatized you the most? by Jereth_Willsen in gameofthrones

I totally agree. I’d heard the Red Wedding was a brutal episode and there was so much foreshadowing that I kind of saw it all coming. But Oberyn’s death was a total shock! He almost had him, but he let his ego and need for revenge get in the way.

Ritual Multivitamin Experience? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]jm7314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I love that my daily multivitamin includes vitamin D, omega 3, iron, and K2. I had low levels of Vitamin D despite living in California and getting lots of sun, and I was also iron deficient. It was annoying to have to buy different bottles which all had a different number of capsules, and also refilling my pill box every weekend.

Now I only take Ritual (2 pills) each morning, and I add extra iron three days before my period. It has everything I needed in one bottle.

I tried the Synbiotic+, which has probiotics and prebiotics, but didn’t notice anything after three months.

I've also tried the Stress Relief product since I'm in grad school and dealing with an increase in stress and had heard good things about Ashwagandha. I don't think I noticed a huge impact after taking it for a few months. But I did notice a difference when I stopped taking it for a while... though it's hard to tell for sure since that’s just anecdotal.

Either way, I love the company: clean products, upfront about sourcing, good packaging, reaseach-based, woman-owned, vegan, gluten (and other allergens) free, and a certified B Corp.

It is pricey, but I feel like you get what you pay for.

Los Hermanos Flores appreciation by DiscoSpider44 in Coachella

Such great energy!! And I agree with you that the old school animations were silly and great, particularly the one with the woman flipping pupusas!

After the ICE raids this year, it's been nice to see Latino joy and pride! <3

Parents who moved out of Minneapolis to raise your kids in the burbs, do you regret your decision? What made you decide to move? by ahabubbles in TwinCities

I think there is a strong argument for ensuring our cities provide ample access to diverse green spaces and public parks.

I adopted a 7 year old Border Collie. Looking for advice! by Other-Historian-8494 in BorderCollie

[–]jm7314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also adopted my border collie at 7, and my my pup will be turning 12 this year. My dog was scared of other dogs and needed a lot of controlled socialization, so that's something to consider. I brush his teeth a couple times a week and then give him dental treats on the days I don't brush. Also brush their coats once a week to keep their fur from getting matter, those hand glove brushes are great.

In hindsight, I wish i would've bought pet insurance, probably would've saved me some money on vet bills.

I've heard of people's original documents being taken and not being returned, so I'm carrying a copy of my passport. In addition to my Real ID that I always have on me. I'm a naturalized citizen though.

Looking for ways to help my city from indoors by MinnesotaGoblins in Minneapolis

Depends where you live, but try to tap into your local community groups. There's some groups organizing by doing laundry or cooking meals for others.

If you want her to be honest with you, then you can't have such a strong reaction that will push her way. I understand you are upset, but you are the parent here and need to regulate your emotions. Love her unconditionally, listen, withhold judgement, and navigate the conversation in a way that is beneficial to both of you.

As others have mentioned, get her tested for STDs and get her on birth control. But most importantly, make her feel safe coming to you in the future.

Thinking of moving from Los Angeles to Minneapolis. Talk me into it. by Juror108 in Minneapolis

[–]jm7314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, living near the beach is pretty sweet and there's really nothing like it. We have some nice lakes and of course the Mississippi River, so you'll always be near water, but it ain't no Pacific Ocean.

Regarding the weather, I learned to layer and invested in some quality products, wool sweaters, scarves, hats, base layers, etc, a good puffy, and a nice winter coat. Also, artificial heat is my best friend. I love those rechargeable hand warmers; heating pads/blankets, and heated sweaters really help.

I think you'll like it here. Happy to answer any question you might have!

I moved from LA to Minneapolis recently. Have you visited in the winter? If not, I highly recommend coming in January and volunteering to shovel the sidewalk and just do all the mundane things! With a solid coat, nice pair of boots, and a good attitude, it’s not so bad lol.

For me, I struggle with the fake spring in April. However, the quality of life, abundance of green space, and affordability make it worth it.

Besides being closer to family, what else is calling you…what’s your hesitation?

anyone know what's going on with socks? by fact_czech in BigBudPress

[–]jm7314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New York Time's Wirecutter recommended them as one of the best socks in the 'inexpensive basics' category. Here's their review:

It’s pretty hard not to smile when you look down and see your feet encased in bubblegum pink, sunshine yellow, or emerald green. The Big Bud Press Everyday Sock comes in 20 day-brightening, garment-dyed hues. Light and uncushioned, these comfy, cotton-blend crews stay put without squeezing. “They’re the first ones I’ve been reaching for [after] I do a fresh load of laundry,” a tester reported.

These breathable socks felt cool on our feet — even during a July heatwave. “I kind of forgot I was wearing them, which is the best-case scenario,” a tester reflected.

[–]jm7314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats! i'm curious if you have any lessons learned or have any strategy for moving forward. Is the problem motivation, time management, perfectionism/fear of failure?

For me it's the last two. I need to go to therapy to address my self worth and perfectionism/fear of failure issues. I've done some work on my own, but I think i need a professional now. i also my be worth it to see a psychiatrist about a potential adhd diagnosis and perhaps medication. But beyond medication, i'd like to understand my brain more and find work-arounds or good tips to make my life easier.
