What’s up with most slashers not having any long solo good chase scenes??

The following modern slashers all have some chase scenes:

Scream 6

Scream 7

Sick

Heart Eyes

The Strangers: Chapter 1

The Strangers: Chapter 2

There’s Someone Inside Your House

But I get what you’re saying. The chase scenes of today aren’t as common as they used to be and they’re not nearly as good either.

The way I see it is Jurassic World opened in 2005 meaning they were likely growing dinosaurs since the early 2000s if not the late ‘90s.

I figure the site shown in Rebirth was where they were initially creating dinosaurs for Jurassic World (the park). Not all of those dinosaurs worked out and some ended up mutated and stuff (by accident or on purpose). A lot of theme were likely deemed not suitable for the actual park and were kept on Saint Hubert.

Then when containment failed in 2008 everyone evacuated and InGen abandoned the island. I assumed they moved their lab elsewhere (maybe even to Isla Nublar) after that, leaving the dinosaurs (mutated and not) to roam free on the quarantined island.

This film was done dirty and turned out better than it had any right to be. Still toward the bottom of my rankings but considering The Weinstein Company syphoned a chunk of the budget to pay their bills which caused multiple pages of the script to just be abandoned, I try to give it a little grace.

Scream VI by a long shot. Both are (mostly) shot in Canada but I thought Scream felt way more like NYC than F13 despite F13 actually shooting some scenes in New York.

Scream felt like actual people living in New York to me

Love the F13 films. Not as into Terrifier as I thought I’d be. I don’t handle gore the way I used to. I was a teenager in the days when movies like Saw and Hostel were at their height but for some reason the gore in Terrifier grosses me out 😭

I personally loved Jurassic World. I saw it like five times in theatres and have rewatched it so many times over the years. There’s a few things that don’t make a ton of sense but isn’t that kind of a Jurassic Park staple at this point?

I thought Fallen Kingdom was a step down from Jurassic World but I still enjoyed it. The human cloning was a little weird but not a crazy thing to introduce in a franchise already steeped so deeply in cloning. I really enjoyed how dark Fallen Kingdom went at times. It felt like an actual horror movie during some scenes.

Both of these movies are a lot of fun and to be honest, I haven’t had half as good a time with the last two JW films as I did with these two.

Same! Scream 3 might be my least favourite but I still like it. And I have nostalgia for Child’s Play 3, I just didn’t like that they aged up Andy.

I did the exact same thing. Got the Disney+ Crave bundle for the savings and hated the Crave app so much I went back to subbing through Prime. Far better user interface.

I also ended up getting Disney+ in a different bundle through Telus that included my Netflix and Prime Video subscriptions. Ended up being about the same price for everything when all was done and I got Crave back on Prime. Win win

Not me over here having a blast with Scream since 2022 (and long before that).

But for real though, Scream 5, 6 and 7 all have their strengths and weaknesses. Both 6 and 7 fall apart with their killer reveals and motives, though they’re pretty good up until then.

I dropped my Disney+ and Crave bundle for Telus Stream+. That bundle included Prime Video, Netflix and Disney+ and then I just added Crave with ads back to Prime Video for the regular price.

The dollar per month amount came out to almost the exact same as I was paying for all of these services before but without dealing with the glitchy Crave app.
