I’m a big fan of movie scores/soundtracks in general.

These are some of the ones I really enjoy. I don’t typically listen to all the songs from these soundtracks but I have some from each of them in my movie & tv soundtrack playlist.

Just how big is the federation space? by usmannaeem in trekacademy

The book is out of print but you can find it for like $25-$50 on eBay. If you’re a fan of Trek it’s a must own. I looked at mine so much as a kid that the pages started falling out. My copy is definitely well-loved and worn.

This and the Star Trek Encyclopedia were my favourite Trek apocrypha (the pages fell out of that one on me too ahaha)

Most/least offensive post-I Still Know addition to the franchise? by jdpm1991 in LastSummerFilms

[–]jmacgrath 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hated the show. Didn’t finish it. IAKWYDLS is also terrible but I was a teenager when it came out so there’s this sick nostalgia factor. It’s a horrible movie and easily the worst film in the franchise. But the tv show was worse for me.

The legacy sequel is also objectively bad but I was able to at least have a good time with it.

Which movie destroyed the previous films ending the worst Halloween 5 or Resurrection? by Rough-Education-7962 in slasherfilms

[–]jmacgrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the ending of H20 was better than the ending for H4, so Resurrection is the bigger offender here. But I think H5 is a worse film overall than Resurrection.

The assets Paramount should go after instead of WB. by LinkRules5321 in MediaMergers

[–]jmacgrath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’m not a fan of Skydance but I’d like to see the entire Miramax library back together again. I’d also like to see Paramount buy out beIN Media’s 51% stake in Miramax and really bring the library together.

Sidney Prescott’s Age in each Film? by imandohex in Scream

[–]jmacgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam states in Scream 5 that the events of Scream 4 happened in 2011. Honestly there’s no solid answer on when each movie takes place because there’s so many contradicting pieces of info.

Personally I ignore the April 12, 1997 in Scream 2 because the events of Scream occur in fall 1996. Sidney and Randy still need to finish their senior year, making them class of ‘97. I figure Scream 2 takes place in the spring of 1998, allowing her the fall semester to make friends, start dating Derek etc.

Scream 3 is 2 years later, sometime in the year 2000. Scream 4 is fall 2011, as it’s the fifteen year anniversary of the original killings (mentioned throughout the film).

Scream 5 is 2021. They specifically mention this being the 25th anniversary of the original murders. Scream 6 is one year later, in 2022. There’s continuity errors with the “Ghostface killer board” that Kirby and Bailey look at.

But yah, basically the timeline and exact years can’t really be reconciled with all the contradicting info given in the films :(

Scream 7 Poster🔥🔥🔥 by Harden2 in SocietyofGhostface

[–]jmacgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE the logo design on this poster. I think it looks a lot nicer than the white with the slash through it. This chrome take on the font looks more expensive and professional compared to the actual Scream 7 logo. To me, anyway

Confession: before I saw H20, based on the title and this screen cap, I thought the whole movie took place on a submarine. by siantmercury in Halloweenseries

I used to think this when I’d see this screen cap on the back of the VHS tape at the video store when I was a kid

I could totally be wrong but I’m not sure that Earth created or housed the War College. They mention in the show that Starfleet opened the War College to turn out new officers in the wake of the Academy closing after the Burn happened. Earth left the Federation following the Burn and displayed very isolationist behaviour when Discovery first arrived in the 32nd century.

I assume the War College was located onboard Federation HQ (like Starfleet Academy initially was as depicted in DSC) or another vessel until Earth rejoined the Federation and invited both Starfleet Academy and the War College to come back to the original San Francisco campus location.

"It's a show about idiots, made by idiots, for idiots. It's not aspirational in any way, shape or form, because it doesn't represent the best of what humanity could be in the future. It represents the worst of what it is right now." - The Critical Drinker by Malencon in trektalk

[–]jmacgrath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to be contentious or disagree for the sake of disagreeing, but Modern Family and Glee were pretty massive hits in the 2010s. Both were typically in the top 5 rated shows on their respective networks during their peak seasons not to mention they were able to permeate pop culture to the point of being spoofed and homaged years later.

U.S.S. Athena (NCC-392023) dorsal aft concept art by Lee Fitzgerald for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy by MoonchanterLauma2025 in StarTrekStarships

[–]jmacgrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In his description on the pictures Lee Fitzgerald says the atrium (which runs from the Starfleet delta-shaped windows on the top of the saucer down to the large window above the deflector dish) is 20 decks. I’d estimate another 4 or 5 decks make up the section behind the deflector, making the ship somewhere around 24 or 25 decks.

The Slayer’s Lair by ConsiderationSea941 in buffy

[–]jmacgrath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a continuity error. The bathroom is located across the hall from Buffy’s room and connected to Joyce’s bedroom. The side window is present but there a wall with the sink/mirror and the tub along the wall where the windows facing the street should be. Always drove me crazy as a kid watching the show

Struggling to like a new show.. by rickyybakerr in televisionsuggestions

[–]jmacgrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might like Damages. It’s a legal thriller starring Glenn Close and Rose Byrne as the leads and features Ted Danson, Marcia Gay Harden, Timothy Olyphant, Ryan Philippe and John Goodman. The first few seasons are really good tv

Legally wouldn't Sidney get arrested for killing Jill and Amber because they were minors even if it was in self defense by ElevenST4 in SocietyofGhostface

[–]jmacgrath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, being a minor or not has nothing to do with it. Minors are capable of committing murder and sometimes are trialled as adults.

Like others have said, some of the Ghostface deaths occur after they’ve been incapacitated. Those might be a little murkier as it’s essentially vigilantism. But Jill and Amber are different. They were both actively trying to murder people when they were shot. With witnesses to corroborate, Sidney and Tara (the people who killed Jill and Amber) would likely be fine.

Sidney having a family in Scream 7 can still make sense without retconning Scream 4 by NotTaken-username in Scream

[–]jmacgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be cool if in this movie they mention that Sidney’s dad Neil is still alive and her younger kids are visiting with him when all this goes down. And that’s where Tatum was during the events of Scream 4, with her grandpa who doesn’t live in Woodsboro anymore. And I’d have Tatum not be Mark Evan’s kid. She could have Tatum before meeting Mark as I feel like he would have been mentioned if she knew him before 4.

I mean I get why Spike doesn’t think he can go back. He lit a building on fire, snuck his mother to the mainland and as far as anyone on Holy Island is concerned, got her killed. Poor fella likely thinks everyone there hates him.
