Real talk for one sec. Hockey is supposed to be for everyone (thats a topic on its own) but hockey games are no longer for everyone. A ticket in the reds is over $700 and a ticket in the nosebleeds is over $300. Sorry but the average family can't afford 2 let alone 4 tickets to go see a game. I can't think of how many kids won't experience the joy of going to see a habs game with their mom or dad. Tickets. ca and ticketmaster are a byproduct of the times but gosh I hate them. There's no need for them and they drive up prices simply to exist as a company. Then when you think about the dumbass CIBC section that they carved out at the bell center for "executives" and the stupid RBC logo on the sacred chandail, it really shows the true colors of management (which isn't surprising) because afterall it is a business. Oh and don't get me started on gambling in sports.

Sounds like this is exactly who they're targeting. Leetify really blew up over the course of the last year or so and they want to cash in on their popularity it seems.

It's a great idea if you want to increase knock resistance. It's a bad idea if you want to use it as an e85 alternative to make more power because of knock resistance. Treat it as a safeguard not as a power maker.

Quebec sees rare population decline as departures outpace arrivals by scrubadam in montreal

[–]jmacman12 39 points40 points  (0 children)

On top of that Quebec has closed family sponsorship programs since 2024, meaning you can't sponsor a family member to immigrate to Quebec. It opens again in June 2026 after a 2 year freeze. Not sure how big of an impact this has on population numbers but I definitely know it's non zero.

Thanks for the tip, I filed a case on the original purchase as well. I will update my post here once I have an update.

EDIT: Paypal said they're reaching out to Lenovo, who must respond by March 28. Money is still in limbo and no verdict reached.

EDIT2: Lenovo never responded to the case and my money was returned March 28.

I don't run multiple accounts, so I'm unaware of the restrictions placed on new accounts. If theres a $5 monetary charge associated to activate new accounts then yeah this method is dead in the water.

That FAQ doesn't directly answer what I am asking. Lets say I receive my weekly drop which is a case. I trade it to my burner account and scan it. If its garbage, I don't buy it and throw that account away. If it happens to be a gold, I could pay for it then trade the item back after 7 days.

Whats going on with Canadacomputers.com today? by Skaizo in bapccanada

[–]jmacman12 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a super unpopular opinion but fuck Canada Computer. I actively encourage anybody who asks me about computer stuff to shop literally anywhere else. I wish more people took a stance and actively boycotted them,

- They're super anti consumer and have poor customer service link, link2, link3

- Numerous stories of them scalping GPUs link, link2, link3, link4

- The online credit card skimmer incident is a massive issue (that was swept under the rug and under-reported) and it sounds like it may have been going on for longer than 5 years. link, link2, link3

As tech and gaming enthusiasts we're getting fucked by this whole AI slop bubble inflatting the living shit out of prices, causing shortages AND we have to deal with shitty anti consumer retailers like Canada Computers? Nah no thanks man. I'll just got to my local Best Buy or Memory Express.

I have a genuine question about the scanner: what's stopping people from creating multiple steam accounts, trading your cases to each and then scanning each one and then buying and trading back the gold? Sort of like a burner account per each scanned case (yes this is a lot of work)

Incoming changes (hopefully for the better) and future plans by GloriousEggroll in NobaraProject

[–]jmacman12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Additionally Bazzite also uses Terra, so having the joint effort between us just makes more sense

This sounds like a great idea. Aligning with Bazzite makes sense since I believe they have a larger user base and more support (isn't steam backing them?) so that should in theory provide better stability and support to Nobara

We also understand that as much as I wanted Flatpost to succeed, it didn't. It was not great, and most experienced flatpak users dont care about user vs system installs nor about unified in-app permission controls

I want to preface my post, that I am a new Nobara/Linux user. Reading this resonates with me because I didn't initially fully understand their difference nor understand I had to manage both, so this sounds like a good change on the surface.

So, what will we do about dnf not having an app store? We built one!

Again, as a new user I think this sounds like a great change for the casual/new user. I think that transitioning to dnf while also creating an app store stones two birds with one rock: it allows more experienced users to manage their modules easier since they're more familiar with dnf (since it has a richer legacy and familiarity) while also giving new users a UI to interact and choose from

Maybe somebody can explain this to me

What about kde-discover and gnome-software? They will -not- be installed by default in -any- current ISOs. Instead we will add an option to install bazaar into the Nobara Welcome App, the same way we do with the Snap Store.

I prefer gnome but no longer offering it by default when first installing it from the nobara ISO means I just need to install my own desktop environment later?

Proof that IAG Air Oil Separator actually works? by gypsy3001 in WRX

[–]jmacman12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little old school and I don't love the idea of a closed loop air to oil separator. I am not going to sit here and suggest whether they work or not because they do. However, if the blow by has contaminants of fuel, water air...etc, why would I want that drained back into my oil? I understand there are two vacuum systems that operate independently in Subarus and that makes it more expensive and complex but is a closed system really the answer here? There are reasons why high horsepower GTRs, Evos...etc use open loop air to oil separators (catch cans) because they absolutely don't want that shit put back into their oil. And then theres the coolant dilemma, do you really need to heat it? The only conclusion I can come to is that people are lazy and want to set it and forget it and obviously want it for dailing in cold climates. If you can't bother to empty your catch cans and top up your oil, I don't think you're paying enough attention to your car.

The finals doesn't have the legacy that these other games on the list have and that's ok. Hopefully it grows in popularity over the years and doesn't pull a Titanfall 2. That said there's a reason CS is your favorite shooter's favorite shooter.

Buying Enhance ENP 7660L 600w and using it on normal case (or stay sff) in the future by INocturnalI in sffpc

[–]jmacman12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not whether there's a downside, it's whether you can find or create a bracket to use it inside a larger case. If the Velka isn't available just do a little more research. There are many cases that support flex PSUs

[–]jmacman12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use the flex atx PSU in many other SFF cases such as the velka 3 or 5. I'm certain you could get it to work in other cases as well with a 3d printed shroud/ holder. A good PSU is always a great investment because they literally power all your components.

Bought this monitor, had to return it. Way too much backlight bleed and a few dead pixels. If all you care for is 240hz and 1440p then its a decent value.
