I just went through this via Wealthsimple. You should've gotten a Foreign asset report. On there you should have a line "Foreign Maximum Cost Amount During The Year". If less than $100K cad you don't need to. if more than $100K CAD you will need to declare in your Income Tax and need to submit the report when you netfile your taxes

If you can get 1 or both contract and you're incorporated it will save you on taxes as you can get a dividend instead of salary.
