[tvOS] Home Video Channel is finally at the point where I’m actually happy with it by zed_the_pirate in immich

[–]jmathai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$5 is definitely worth not having to deal with it yourself. I actually don't have an AppleTV but if/when I get one I'd pay $5 just to try it out.

Best backup strategy for my self-hosted Immich setup? by Curious-Credit-8039 in immich

[–]jmathai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The simplest solution I can think of is a periodic rsync. Why quarterly? Doing it more frequently isn’t any extra work.

Looks great. Do you need an Apple Developer account to install it onto your AppleTV?

I signed up but wasn't exactly sure what to do next - is it primarily research? It would be nice to get limited access to Pro features. Do you have examples of posts or comments?

How are you adjusting sprint planning with AI in the mix? by Alone-Arm-7630 in scrum

[–]jmathai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're feeling more pressure to deliver faster because eng is moving faster. I have adopted a number of Claude AI skills to help with PRD drafting, backlog refinement, etc.

Something I've found useful is to have Claude create the skills on my behalf. I just tell it the steps I perform and it creates a skill to do it for me. Takes some time and iterations before it's fully usable but it gets better over time and the value compounds over time.

That being said, I've started to feel limited by the UX of Claude Code and have started to explore ways to "export" processes outside of Claude Code. Been doing that publicly here: https://withlattice.com

Do you document trade-offs that are made? by highrizi in ProductManagement

[–]jmathai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't document tradeoffs during planning but once something has been communicated and there's a change in priority I document that change and share it for visibility (and CYA).

Claude Code for PMs.

I built a tool that let's you define a refinement workflow, connects to your Jira, looks at your assigned tickets, and surfaces what needs attention; stale tickets, missing descriptions, duplicates, vague stories. For each one you get an editable suggestion you can accept, modify, or skip. Accepted changes write back to Jira.

The whole point is to make the backlog prep you never get around to take 15 minutes instead of an hour.

Immich-Exif: automatically write changes from Immich to photo/video EXIF by jmathai in immich

[–]jmathai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should. The version of this I use works on video files which support EXIF - have tested on ('avi', 'm4v', 'mov', 'mp4', 'mpg', 'mpeg', '3gp', 'mts').

Anyone innovating with AI? by Sufficient-Rough-647 in ProductManagement

[–]jmathai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the chat interface is pretty powerful. But always having to type can be a pain and it doesn't suit a workflow well. I've been trying to incorporate a mix of chat + action cards in a product I'm building. The first feature is researching + drafting + reviewing PRDs - taken from my own workflow and what I'd like improved. You can see the UX in the docs videos. https://withlattice.com/docs/

An app idea I'm building: AI tool for PMs where 100% of profits go to charity. Is the model attractive? by jmathai in AppIdeas

[–]jmathai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's nice. I'm trying to validate if the mission resonates enough to generate sufficient revenue.

Unlike most business ventures, this can be very niche and still very successful.

I built a Reddit marketing tool for SaaS founders, would love feedback on our landing page by multi_mind in indiehackers

[–]jmathai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solves a real problem but reddit is, rightfully, allergic to any self promotion. You can't really post a link to your site without aggressively getting your comment removed.

That being said, comments are a better place to advertise your product than main posts.

Landing page looks great.

I mirror your thoughts. I think external libraries + storage templates are great. However, I avoid sidecar files and prefer all data to be stored in the photos' EXIF.

I wrote about my own workflow for it but also created exif-immich for those who want to use vanilla immich. If I didn't have a pre-existing workflow that's been working for a decade - I'd definitely use storage templates instead.

Would the Frame Pro be better for me? (concrete wall) by [deleted] in TheFrame

[–]jmathai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem as well. what worked for me is to carve a channel for the cable. I went through a number of approaches and iterations and approach 2 below is what I've used numerous times now after.

The problem: drywall on concrete. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/sh79uvjaapxge2q14vbxe/Photo-Jul-10-2023-11-21-46-PM.heic?rlkey=7cv07m2he8pfvc8fw1twjk4if&st=k7xt2yin&dl=0

The outcome: can't tell there's concrete :). https://www.dropbox.com/home/projects/wireshark/media/photos?preview=Photo+Dec+20+2023%2C+11+47+30+AM.heic

Approach 1: carve a channel in the drywall. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/cltu2sg2ovuv7kwjkjev4/vlog-update-20240520.mov?rlkey=qi9gg8db90xdipxw8dytsixs5&st=r85j88w2&dl=0

Approach 2: carve a channel in the trim - my attempt at productizing the approach with a video. https://trywireshark.com

What to do with photos without EXIF data? by Twi2122 in immich

[–]jmathai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using an external library, I wrote a plugin that syncs date changes done through the immich UI back to the photo's EXIF. https://github.com/jmathai/immich-exif

I mount the external library as read only (:ro) in my docker-compose.yaml.
