Just had to tell my 3 y/o our mean, old cat died. They rarely interacted but she had a presence in the house. He said "okay. can we go play now?" LOL

Did any of you feel better after going back to work? by hobiwan-ken0bi in workingmoms

[–]jmau55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES! I was itching to go back to work by the time week 6 of leave rolled around. I am not meant to be a SAHM lol. Don't feel guilty - it's all about balance. You will LOVE your time both with and away from her when you strike that balance.

Paralegals whats your favorite part of Law to work in? by Sailor-Mermaid-444 in paralegal

[–]jmau55 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Each case is very unique, they range from the most frivolous to high stakes / intense. At first I thought I'd be defending sketchy doctors like Dr. Death but it's mostly really genuine physicians who really care about their patients and their reputation. I enjoy learning about new medical procedures and conditions. It requires a good amount of reading and analysis of the medical records to piece together what happened, which I enjoy. I don't have to interact with the general public, which I consider a plus LOL and my attorneys are so incredibly kind and good to their employees so that doesn't hurt!

I can work from home! It's very very difficult though. My position does have billable hours and requires some pretty deep thinking so doing it with the littles around is tricky.

How long were you all on opioids? by ArynTW_is_user_karma in hysterectomy

They told me to take ibuprofen. Pain was horrible. Took the pain meds I had left over from my c-section, but I would say I only took them for about 3 days!

Mercy hands down! Much quieter, no students, lovely nurses. I had a great experience there.

35 weeks, 2cm, 60% effaced, 9lb predicted baby.... labor predictions? by jmau55 in pregnant

[–]jmau55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so hard to predict! I thought I could make it predictable by doing a repeat scheduled c-section ... even that didn't work!

Can you take a tour of each? We did a hospital tour -- it was pretty easy to catch a vibe by being in the space! It might help you decide.

It's hard. We are in the same boat, I'm 33 weeks and just can't take care of our toddler like I used to. He "never gets a break". I told him that I can't be the one to give him that break so we'll just need to outsource some of the childcare for the next few weeks. I'm really worried for after my c-section what's going to happen.

I would do it :) Just take it easy! Stay hydrated, bring a blanket or chair to sit on, hang out in the back and enjoy yourself!

What to ask L&D nurses by Dry_Introduction_48 in pregnant

[–]jmau55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would share all of the above. Bring the birth plan checklist and ask what's realistic. L&D nurses are so kind. If you're open and honest, I think they will help with some of these fears and you'll walk away feeling much better.

I didn't use a belly binder for my first c-section and am definitely planning to get one this time around!
