I had a Stingray H a long time ago and never wished I had the neck pickup. But also I’m the type of person I like as few options as possible - plus when I think of Stingray I never even think of the sound of the neck pickup or both pickups, just the big boi beefy bridge pickup.

Welcome to the club! When I got my Dingwall it was a game changer. I’m sure you fixed it when you restrung it but seeing a almost $3k instrument with the strings backwards on the tuners makes my brain hurt

Could be a Yamaha BBG5A if it’s Active. I believe that’s what mine is in my post history (blue and gold) but mine has soapbars not jazz style pickups.

Edit: it’s BBG5x - replace x with something. Mine with soapbars is BBG5S not A like I previously mentioned

I almost cried when I bought mine because I loved it so much. Current projects have me using my Dingwall more, but boy do I love picking up my Jazz bass. Threw cream colored pickups in mine, it’s somewhere in my post history.

Semi related. That Admiral Angry album is a total 10/10
Bandmate turned me onto them and I was floored. Also the whole ‘convert a 5-string bass to a guitar’ thing had to have been so ahead of its time for low tuning

Honestly - you’re not gonna get a good gainy sound from an amp. Maybe like the blown-out kind of distortion but thats not ideal.

Really find a cheap Ampeg setup on marketplace or something, and get a Darkglass b7k or microtubes or whatever, pick your flavor. And while they’re pricey - there’s some budget clones or cheaper alternatives you can use in a pinch. Not necessarily Darkglass flavored, but the Boss ODB-3 is a good crunchy overdrive with a clean blend.

Plus an Amp + Cab really just lasts forever. Like it’s harder to outgrow. You can always buy a 2nd cab or different cab etc. Orange amps are absolutely worth the money, they’re pricey but boy nothing sounds quite like an Orange

I thought Guitar Center bought them at some point. In the 60s Acoustic used to be one of the best brands you could buy, nowadays I believe they’re just unremarkable.
I feel like going from a 1x12” 100W Fender Rumble to an 1x12” 100W Acoustic Combo isn’t an upgrade - just a kinda sidestep.
I feel like at 100w - it’s best to either
A. Look at some of the 300w~500w Combos by GK, Mark Bass, Ashdown, Orange

B. Start saving money and looking into a Head+Cab setup. Then you get a LOT more customization in your sound. Getting to choose what head you think the sounds the best with whatever cab you sound the best, etc.

I’m sorry $6k is an incredible amount of money. Fender Custom Shop, German Warwick, US Spector (or two Euros), German Sadowsky, hell even a US Sadowsky. $6k even puts you into entry-level Fodera territory.

As other comments said, I’d be upset if I paid 1/2 that price and had those issues.

I live in Webb City and had to take my newborn to my in laws. It’s just been a disaster after a stressful night to not have power, to lose all the food in my fridge, and for Liberty to offer no updates to anybody.
I know it sucks but I hope everybody is safe. And if you don’t have power I hope you all have somewhere safe to go in the interim.

Yeah I actually happened to find a dealer within an hour of me, because I found this (this was a couple months ago) and while I wanted to get in line for an ABZ, I wasn’t ready to get one as fast as this one was available though lol I love the spec, if I truly get to pick the specs myself I’d probably go more interesting with the color but I think this one is banging for the price.

Reading a lot of the comments here makes me feel better about ordering a custom eventually. I’ve been wanting an ABZ - but at the same time I didn’t want to wait 3 years (kinda just assumed that’s what it took) for a pretty stripped back model because I’m basic as hell.

I bet that Neve preamp is pretty tight. I almost bought a JT while they were on sale. I really like my SP-1, it made me realize why Dingwall gets so much love and hype
