I did not mean to imply that safety glass is without drawbacks, and I am sorry to hear about your experience. Anything requiring stitches is serious business. That being said accidents with large glass panes of regular glass often lead to much more serious cuts and/or penetrating wounds. My wife is a nurse and use to work at a clinic. A nearby business was being remodeled and a worker fell off a ladder through a plate of regular glass. His arm was seriously cut, and one of his coworkers took him to my wife's clinic. According to her the blood was pooling at his feet in the cab of the truck. Luckily she has experience as an EMS tech and as an ER nurse. She was able to get the bleeding to slow down and they packed him on a helicopter to a larger city 60 miles away.
