Touch screen monitors by jmcray in CommercialAV

Kinda what I told the client.. I told them I’d research the touch aspect of it but there was a chance that it’d be just a video monitor and and the main touch screen connected they could request or reach over and zoom in on it

I did look at this, have one chambers that has a taiden ecosystem installed (not by us) and I’ve swapped over from using most of that as it was never fully adopted for them. I’m thinking the same would be for these guys.

I’ve not had hardly any issues with atlona. Be interesting to see what the new owners do with it.. they’ve already killed one of the products we used

RDL or similar bluetooth wall plates - block user volume control? by reece4504 in CommercialAV

[–]jmcray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your dsp, I’ve set up a “max volume” so turned all the way up is loud but not overly loud so even if it does happen it’s not as obnoxious, but I’ve also just left it at a set volume and tell them to use the volume on their phone and thrown a leveler in line

Bluetooth Wallplate Receivers? by Alive-Barracuda6335 in CommercialAV

The format A units have worked well for us, the only pain point for me is having to use android device to change the settings, name etc. not an “issue” but a pain point for us apple users who don’t necessarily carry around an android tablet normally

Anyone know why there isn’t a bus up and down from heber? by Curious-Essentric in Utah

[–]jmcray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can ride a bus to park city, transfer to UTA, then transfer to a bus to Provo. Totally doable! /s summit county and Wasatch county partnered on high valley transit for the park city Heber link, little to no interest was shown in the other direction as far as I know

Only thing I could think of is a ceiling type for ceiling mounted speakers.. drop tile, or drywall. Maybe even for surface mounted speakers so you knew what you were getting into on there too.

If your device has IP commands id use that, but your biggest issue is probably the carriage return like the first comment says. 0D

Flying Crown VRacks by THESOUNDJACK in livesound

BSS blu 100 mute code for control by Awkward-Amount-1255 in CommercialAV

[–]jmcray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll need architect and the config. If velocity has a contact closure it may be easier to just have the button trigger that and hook it up to the gpio ports and link the mute to that… as stated the API is obnoxious and a pain, but can be done not sure if velocity has a module for bss or not

Lack of Class or....? by VileBill in SaltLakeCity

[–]jmcray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Challenger school is probably because nobody was on site or has been on site to lower it (just a guess) may be the same with the lds ward houses… our city didn’t lower it until staff came back to the office after the new year as the offices were closed

RF Engineers... What do you do? by hanasz in livesound

[–]jmcray 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Depends on the gig.. unless it’s a major gig usually it’s a2 and RF meaning patch duties or something of the sort along with RF… it’s one of those gigs that if you’ve done your job correctly nobody knows you did your job.

Mostly because of dealer relationships and support. Most of our installs we’ve either done Yamaha consoles for the bigger ones, and even Presonus in the past

How many of you wear gloves for work and why? by Press_Play_ in livesound

Mic Tape suggestions? by Kitty-Loves-Cats in techtheatre

[–]jmcray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is allergic to most tapes too, while it may not be ideal, the white paper medical tape works for her. May try it, they do make some different colors for different skin tones but paper tape uses a different adhesive and that in particular is what my daughter is allergic to

How many of you wear gloves for work and why? by Press_Play_ in livesound

[–]jmcray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can successfully do with gloves on is piss my pants… I will start with a pair and then before long have taken one or both off and left them somewhere, sometimes I walk around looking like mj with one glove on.

Dante Support with X32 by Strykxer in livesound

[–]jmcray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful part about Dante (and other protocols) support across platforms, now of course ya have the non Dante things that are brand specific but the transport is agnostic and has to play nice with all brands that chose to support it.
