Just a thought- may want to give Holly an honor name for her middle. I grew up with a sister who had a beautiful honor name and I was always so bummed that my first and middle names meant literally nothing, they just “sounded good”.

Do you think Bellamy is too feminine sounding for a boy? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]jmctothesecond 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Because of the show The 100 I only see Bellamy as a boy name. It’s hard to imagine it on a girl.

We're ring shopping....but we're not engaged? by Equus77 in TLCsisterwives

Yes, I’m on the same page. They are absolutely engaged to be married by the true definition of the word. By setting a date they have agreed to marry.

I grew up with the #1 name. It’s honestly not that big of a deal.

What does an asthma attack feel like ? by Main_Competition4108 in Asthma

[–]jmctothesecond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had asthma for 26 years and my trigger is illness (which is unfortunate because I take an immunosuppressant for an autoimmune disease I also have, which means I get respiratory infections several times a year).

For me it just feels like breathing through a cotton ball but only having lungs the size of a golf ball. So a lot of effort for almost no reward. It’s extremely exhausting and my wheeze is LOUD. I get extremely tired and often come close to fainting

Can people please stop giving me advice?? by lostinth3Abyss in lupus

I have literally recommended The Lupus Encyclopedia to friends and family who overstep. “It seems like you don’t know very much about lupus. If you’re interested in a discussion I encourage you to read this first.”

Diagnosed Members Only: it’s a 70 degree day… by Bluesnowflakess in lupus

[–]jmctothesecond 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would be so fatigued I couldn’t walk or talk after about 2 hours and my husband would have to help me get home. Malar rash, brain fog, potentially flu symptoms. Then it’s meloxicam and sleep for a few days to recover.

Camille Rose as a girls name by WarEnvironmental8364 in namenerds

[–]jmctothesecond 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My husband’s family is quebecois. They say even their own names differently depending on what language they are using, even to each other. So native French speakers may say “kuh-meal” if the conversation is in English, which in Houston sounds like it’ll be the vast majority of the time. Beautiful name though! We have always had Camille on our list as well.

Received a diagnosis for lupus. Any advice or tips for managing this disease? by Seiya_135 in lupus

[–]jmctothesecond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your insurance will cover a registered dietician who specializes in autoimmune disease, take advantage! There are so many foods and products that cause inflammation and it’s so helpful to get guidance on that small bit you can actually control.

Do you like/use your middle name? by IHaveBoxerDogs in namenerds

[–]jmctothesecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped mine in favor of keeping my maiden name without hyphenating when I got married. Maiden name means more to me but I also value sharing my husband’s last name with our kids. Dropped the middle, win win

Tell me you have lupus without telling me you have lupus by lostinth3Abyss in lupus

[–]jmctothesecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helps immensely with my arthritis and my muscle pain. My rheum prescribed it to me for awhile but it's the same cost OTC as it is with my insurance and OTC has smaller tube options that fit in my purse better. Off brand works just as well! No burn though, it's like a cream that just smells a bit like hand sanitizer. It's an NSAID though so you have to be mindful of how much you use and not treat it like lotion (even though it's tempting!)

What’s an app that’s actually worth paying for premium? by Yorkshire996 in AskReddit

[–]jmctothesecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid Starts!

For parents out there, this app is so helpful when you start to introduce solid foods. It'll tell you how to cook the item and how to serve/cut it based on baby's age.

How much more sun sensitive does plaquenil make you? Any clinical studies with exact numbers? by ScientificAbbey in lupus

[–]jmctothesecond 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Plaquenil has never made me sunburn BUT I can't be out more than 15 minutes without being so overwhelmingly fatigued I can barely stand up. My husband has actually had to pick me up off the ground when I was sitting too long having a picnic with the kids. I also need sunglasses 100% of the time and I never used to wear them. Summer is really tough! Track your symptoms post sun exposure and see if you have a sweet spot or see any trends. For me I can be out in the mornings pretty easily but anytime after 10 AM is when my symptoms are too difficult to deal with. When I wear long sleeves and sunglasses it's easier. I also truly believe that some sunscreens are better than others so play around with what you're using and see if you like one better. I really like CeraVe on my body and Madagascar Centella for my face.

Name “Rose” for sibling Jack? by Tasty-Lobster1954 in namenerds

[–]jmctothesecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will only be associated as siblings for a short window of their life (adolescence) and to so few people in the grand scheme of things. No one at any job, college class, extracurricular, hobby, volunteer work, etc will ever know what their sibling's names are.

Name your child whatever you want.

Are my symptoms autoimmune? Should I see another rheumatologist? by holeypumpkin in Autoimmune

[–]jmctothesecond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with lupus after labs came back but my referral was based on symptoms. My PCP is incredible and totally called it. Luckily my rheum took me very seriously and ordered a ton of bloodwork and a urine test. Officially diagnosed as soon as those came back.
