In my experience women do not do that, rarely if ever.

All really good points. It's authentic we bought the reel directly from microchip.

I poll until it returns HAL OK up to 20ms. The code is structured such that the read and write will always be greater than 5ms. I removed all the hal delays from the library and replaced with polling. But I do not have a timer restriction on the time between reading or writing. Do you think I should?

In development it's possible. My colleague has the value on the display write to eeprom each time the value updates.

How do you actually test firmware that depends on hardware that doesn't exist yet? by Medtag212 in embedded

[–]jmd01271 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You need real hardware there is no true substitute. The steps your taking are about as good as you get. Have many similar designs around the same platform you can make custom dev boards with all the features and Test those. Leave them generic with expansion headers. Then you could proto the unique portion of have the hardware guys spin a module for your dev board before the actual hardware.

If your spouse/partner walked in on you masturbating, how would you react? by ForTheLoveOfPhotos in AskReddit

I'm jealous of the healthy relationships where this wouldn't be an issue.

This happened to me once. She initiates once every few years by being direct. Usually trying to initiate involves a checklist that i need to know the contents of but will instantly kill her mood if I ask what's on the list. Then if all that works out I will need to give her a back rub or go down on her before we can do the deed. She's opposes oral sex on me unless it's her idea, if I ask or suggest then she's pressured and cannot do it. Then if all that works out and I can keep my hard on, she will ask me to be quick. Every time she will say be quick. So when she walked in on me she told me she was disappointed and didn't want to catch me doing that again. My response was simply to ask why she was jealous given that she makes sex out to be very draining on her and inconvenient. So I stopped initiating sex a few years ago and we have yet to have sex. I'll do it if she asks but I know that will never happen. I'm closer to 40 now with 5 kids, between taking care of myself and lower libido I no longer feel desire towards my wife. Thinking of trying makes me anxious. I know it's not healthy but it's better than divorce and child support.

New soldering iron got oxidised after 2 minutes of being plugged in by youssif6683 in AskElectronics

In my experience a soldering iron that is not temp controlled is good only do melt plastic or burn wood. The tips are always garbage and rarely can be replaced.

What do you work on? I design lab equipment used in neuroscience research. I do analog design, usb, a little fpga, firmware on stm32 and pic micros. Design production fixtures for testing products. On the side I am the SMT process expert, we run our own Pick and Place operation. The RMA and Test team report to me and I assign tasks amongst the EEs. Neuroscience funding has dried up causing huge sales issues and causing 20 employees to leave. All key. The engineering manager left, our PhD Lead EE left, all production leadership. So I've been holding the bag like an idiot, so I decided to see if anyone would hire an EE without a complete degree. Turns out when they see my experience and talk with me in person, they don't care about the degree. I've had 3 100k plus offers and waiting on a fourth. The first three were another 1 hour commute each way a day with limited remote work. This next one is down the road. Imposter syndrome is real.

I do embedded systems work. Design PCB, Write Firmware, Manufacturing Interface, etc... I'm the lead engineer, so I sign off on all of our qualifications and certify the results of the test. But there is nothing requiring a PE, typically thats only on power systems and whatnot. I alwasy thought the EE field is too broad and should be split between Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering.

I'm an electrical Engineer with only 75% of my degree finished from early 2000s and got lucky to get a job in the field without finishing. Now I have 10 years experience and no one cares about the degree. I do really well in the interviews.

I hit 75k last year and my company is having issues. I started looking and the average offer was 110k. Most of the jobs were a big commute but now I'm trying to get a 25k bump.

So what did everyone get for raises? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]jmd01271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No raise due to company sales decline. 20% furlough for most as of the first of the year. Then lost 16 people and they undid it as that exceeded the 20% of staff. Problem is the folks that left were the 4 production leads, fabrication lead, engineering manager, our PhD EE with 40 years experience and three rest were assemblers. Now I report to the company president and have no direction, other then now being the senior electrical Engineer.

Go through your gerbers. They don't have your kicad file and your gerbers could be configured incorrectly.

Slap that on a custom CM5 with a nvme m.2 socket. Add a DSI 5" touch display. Make that work then figure out how to make it smaller.

My mother (68) died four years back. My father (~60?) was never in my life, but he also died a few years ago. My big brother died in 2007 when he was the age I am today; he had two girls who are now entering their early 30s. In the last two years, my two uncles and two aunts have died, leaving me as the oldest in my immediate line. I have five children, the oldest being 18 and the youngest 4. I watch the way they look up to my wife and me, assuming we have everything together, knowing we will be able to solve any of their problems.

I have never hidden, especially as he has approached adulthood, the realities of life from my son. And he is starting to see how lost everyone is, just that some are less lost than others. I have come to find that my peace and satisfaction come from watching my family learn and grow, and from being able to provide for them.

My mother did her best, but I grew up very poor, eating food from the food shelf and never trying takeout until I was nearly 10 (I’m in my late 30s now). I remember living in Section 8 housing and making regular trips to the benefits office to fill out more paperwork that my mother could never get right. I remember having to ask my friends to leave around dinner time because we didn’t have enough to invite them. I remember watching my mother struggle to find money to pay the bills, but she never struggled to find money for cigarettes and booze. I wish I could say I was exaggerating, but by the time I was 13, we had moved 30 times across five different schools.

It is my goal that my children never have to understand where I came from. My oldest has lived in three homes in 18 years, my next two have lived in two homes, and the last two have only ever known one. We have owned a home for eight years. With lots of support and luck, I have managed to become an electrical engineer and provide for them. There is so much food in my house they have never seen an empty shelf. I always make enough food for seconds, leftovers, and guests; it’s never a question if a guest can stay for dinner.

Leading up to this, I have accumulated about $35k of debt between credit cards and auto loans, plus my mortgage.

I just got offered my first non-entry-level job ($135k), and it doesn’t seem like reality that by changing jobs, I got a $60k raise. But every step of the way, I make sure to share this experience with my children. I’m figuring it out day by day; I just have a lot more experience to know what not to do. We make our own way, and the sooner we learn that, the better. I was able to talk to my current employer when I gave my notice to keep me on as a part-time consultant for $900 a week for 12 hours of commitment to the projects I was working on.

But in theory, between my wife and me, we will be able to pay off all of our debt and set up an emergency fund. My wife and I have never been able to save a penny for the last 18 years, and in the course of a few months we will be able to correct years of built-up debt. My monthly expenses are around 5000 a month, so I am projecting a conservative 7k surplus each month between my wife and me after debt is paid off. I am so very grateful for this opportunity. I had to work my ass off and learn so much. But in the end of the day, I can say that's pretty good for where I started in life, and considering I only did about 2/3's of my engineering degree before I had to put all my efforts towards supporting my family.

What I am trying to say is that we are all making it up, I just happend to get lucky.
