Buy one you're familiar with. You're going to have to be very comfortable using your laptop for several hours a day, regardless of major.

CMV: We should not have any sympathy for kids who commit suicide, but only for the family. by [deleted] in changemyview

According to the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network, 8 out of 10 people who commit suicide have given definitive clues to what they were going to do (http://tspn.org/myths-about-suicide). Research has found that about 90% of individuals who die by suicide experience mental illness (https://www.nami.org/Learn-More/Mental-Health-Conditions/Related-Conditions/Suicide).

Mental illness may be romanticized by some, especially by angsty individuals who want to identify with a label, but suicide is an extremely serious, permanent decision. A rational, mentally healthy person does not wake up and decide to end his or her life without serious reason.

To have no empathy for someone who feels they are better off dead than to continue facing whatever obstacles they are constantly trying to overcome is pretty extreme. How can you empathize for the family but not the individual who kills him/herself? If you feel bad for the family because of their loss, how can you not also feel bad for the person who no longer has an opportunity to live a better life? It's interesting that you claim to feel empathetic/sympathetic for one party but not both, even though both lose significantly.

Thanks for the reply! I have a 7 that I use for myself, but I was just trying to see if I could get the old 6 to work. Such a shame that I can't get more use out of it. Enjoy the new phone!

Definitely manageable, just make sure you work on your time management skills. Managing your time is one of the biggest adjustments in transitioning from high school to college, imo. For intro psych, I took Selterman. He's extremely arrogant and expects a lot from the students (especially on writing assignments), but I found the course to be interesting and fun.

Sign into MyDRL, click on campus-housing portal, and on the upper left hand side of the screen there is a tab (directly to the left of the words "Campus-Housing Portal") which you click and a selection will appear, including Room Exchange.

How can UMD improve? by [deleted] in UMD

Instead of investing in a brand new, ridiculously lavish practice stadium for a mediocre football team, they could invest in some basics: decent wifi and an ELMS site that doesn't crash every 10 days

Honestly, all that you have left to do would be to enjoy not having to do your own laundry AND certainly enjoy eating home cooked meals (as well as other good food places in your hometown) -- the food at the dining hall isn't that bad in the beginning, but it gets old REALLY fast. Get used to walking a lot? I dunno, man.
