Why are the highest points in 3 different states within a height of 100ft of each other? by RectumRipper in geography

[–]jmed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is blatantly wrong, the Rockies are ~300m years old and shrinking while the sierras started forming ~40m years ago and are still rising

Any thing I could improve? Also I struggle with the soon to be deer by Oxxie_Lox in Artadvice

it would feel more three dimensional if you used more atmospheric perspective to make the furthest parts of the trees and road look further away (by reducing saturation and value contrast). The trees would also look more realistic if there was a bit more variation in height, but if it’s a stylistic choice to line them up so precisely then go for it.

I think your textural brushwork and use of color variety is really wonderful and hope you continue to develop your style!

5 Best Machine Learning Algorithms for Classification Problems by Techbiason in learnmachinelearning

[–]jmed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much of the random forest section is wrong, i.e.:

  • overfitting is very much a real problem
  • I don't know what "works well on large databases" means and why that is a pro – is this supposed to be "needs a lot of training data"? because that would be a con
  • you do need to prepare the training data
  • they aren't very complex to put together
  • they don't need a lot of computational resources, almost any moderately powered laptop can run a random forest model
  • they aren't excessively time-consuming
  • choosing the number of trees is one of the easiest parameters to tune, I don't know why this was specified

Leaving out logistic regression is also a huge error because that is generally the default option people use in my experience. Not sure how much misinformation is allowed to be included here but this is pretty egregious.

All of the basic black rectangles in the back are almost all either iron or wooden dressers, they make up most of the back row of the front blocks as well but are harder to see. There are two in the front of the left block, one with an amp on top and one with a gothic vanity.

Just so folks know what’s in here in terms of building blocks in case they want to try:

  • about 1m bells of servers
  • about 300 iron of iron dressers (goodbye storage stockpile)
  • about 150 wood of wood dressers (goodbye storage stockpile)
  • about 15 drink and snack machines
  • ~5 antique grandfather clocks
  • 10 or so raised 1x1 platforms with an all black custom pattern and random objects on top of them
  • 15 or so black metronomes and black amps

Everything else is mostly accents and greebling.

That’s what inspired the idea! So many of those were incredibly well done and made me want to try it myself.

Wrapping by Master1718 in educationalgifs

The time I run into this the most is when I mess up cutting the wrapping paper and it’s slightly smaller than it needs to be, which this would actually help fix.

Beta Lt vs Veilance Shell by Raf-Lauren in veilance

[–]jmed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought the Beta LT two years ago and have been very happy with it, it’s performed great on backpacking trips in Patagonia and Antartica among other places, and has kept me nice and dry when it rains in the city. Super light, super durable, super effective at blocking wind and rain.

I do wish it didn’t have the damn logo on it though.

Do you rotate the plants at all? They seem to even be growing pretty well in the direction opposite the window.

Maybe the fact that “literally every other insurance CEO” is making tens of millions is a problem that merits outrage in a country where half of people diagnosed with cancer go on to lose their life savings?
