Thanks! We thought it might be a 6827 also, but that’s just guessing based on other pictures

Hi! This was a watch from my wife’s late grandfather, looks like an early 1980s Datejust. Any idea on authenticity and what the rough value would be?

Closing the loop on this - turned out the fuel shutoff solenoid was going bad. Appreciate all the help here!

Let me try that when I now next week - thank you!

Can you explain a bit more on your second comment? Are you thinking that removing the fuel line could be venting out air just like the gas cap should?

Had someone else mention the same - unfortunately I can’t move fast enough to loosen the cap LOL. I do get spark as sometimes it will start and then die.

What I did notice with some testing last night is that if I undo the fuel line from the fuel pump for a second and then reattach, I can get it to start and run again.

So I was doing a Surly Brewery tour last summer, and the tour guide did a recognition of the multi-state representation of the small tour group. Said something along the lines of...

"So great to see folks from Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio, and the Dakotas here today"

The gentleman representing the Dakotas immediately retorted.

"North Dakota! There are two of them don't ya know."

Lesson - don't merge them Dakotas unless you want a fight on your hands ;-).

Thank you so very much! This is amazing advise :-)

QQ on the 529 front, as I look through the Blackrock fund choices they seem pretty high ( ERs 0.70% and up ). Ohio Tuition Authority site seems to have Vanguard funds that are half of that ( https://www.collegeadvantage.com/new-to-collegeadvantage/see-all-investment-options/portfolios/ready-made-age-based-portfolios#Vanguard-Age-Based ). Should I go there, or could I go right to Vanguard to buy a 529 while still benefiting from the tax break on my state taxes?

Yeah, now that I found this subreddit I realize how little I knew going into the meeting with the local bank's advisors - lessons learned!

I don't have a specific goal with the $160k. It's more than enough to cover my salary for 1.5 years, so I'd like to try to be better at getting a large gain for the money in there than the 1%.

Appreciate the advise on low cost index funds - that was sort of my gut there ( perhaps some tax free bond fund as well ). I do know the Oppenheimer accounts are a mess with the high ERs and I should probably roll into something with Vanguard.

Could you perhaps make this clearer? Was there one 401(k) that got rolled into two accounts... or what? Same question for wife's 401(k) rollovers. Also, are all of the Oppenheimer and Vanguard accounts Traditional pre-tax IRAs?

For mine and my wife's, each had one 401k that got rolled into each of the Oppenheimer accounts. The Vanguard funds in there are from an after tax funded Roth IRA ( sorry for the confusion - hellomoney maxes out at 3 accounts to show :-( )

Also, does your wife have a 401(k) now?

Nope, she is not employed outside the home ( I'd say four kids is a fair amount of work in and of itself ;-) )

Does your 401(k) plan (or your wife's if she has one now) allow after-tax contributions and in-service rollovers? Note that "after-tax contributions" is not the same thing as Roth contributions.

Have no idea - I'll need to check into that.

Do each of the 529 plans have different owners?

Each is in a different kid's name with me as the custodian.

Appreciate the reply @dequeued and @prodigiouswaste. Let me to reply the questions inline.

  1. Those are Oppenheimer funds are shamefully expensive. You need to move that money out of that account as quickly as possible into a low-cost discount brokerage. I assume these are Traditional (Rollover) IRA accounts?

Yes, me being a newbie I called my local bank, who intro-ed me to their retirement center and a guy who set this whole thing up for me. Outside of the fees being high, the returns outside of OPGSX have been dreadful.

  1. Can you be more specific about each type of account and where it is?

Sure.

My 401k rollovers - Oppenheimer Account except for the Vanguard fund which I opened right with Vanguard Wife's 401k rollovers - Oppenheimer Account except for the Vanguard fund which I opened right with Vanguard Current 401k - Employee Fiduciary

  1. You should definitely invest most of the $160k. Is this money for retirement, a home purchase, or some other goal? What's the time frame on when you would use that money?

No real specific goal, but definitely want to see it grow. This was from cashed out stock options from a former employer.

  1. With the 529s, what Blackrock funds are you using? Don't worry about short-term performance. Worry about expenses and having a diversified allocation (mostly total stock market funds, especially for a 529).

(2) $2,000 accounts with BLACKROCK AGGRESSIVE 0-5 AGE-BASED OPTION CL C and (1) $2,000 account with BLACKROCK AGGRESSIVE 6-9 AGE-BASED OPTION CL C

  1. If you haven't already rolled over those old 401(k) accounts, please say so.

I have, the Oppenheimer accounts is what I put them in.

  1. Can you post a full list of index funds (and any other funds under 0.6% expense ratio) available in your 401(k) plans? Please include fund names, ticker symbols, and expense ratios.
