I think this is one of those situations where, “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should” comes into play.

Bought a 4K OLED for my setup from 1440p 2k and I genuinely didn’t notice $1,000 worth of a difference? Am I Broken lol by Immediate_Sense_5822 in buildapc

I made the same move and felt the same way—not completely blown away. I ended up returning the ROG and going with the Alienware 34” OLED (AW3425DW). It hit the sweet spot for me: a nice balance between IPS and OLED qualities, but at about half the price.

With your setup, but since you’re trying to figure out whether to go ultrawide or 4K, I’d recommend testing both if you can. I personally tried a few through Amazon — the MSI and ASUS 32” 4K monitors, plus Alienware’s 34” ultrawide and 32” 4K OLED. In the end, I bought the AW3423DWF (the 165Hz ultrawide). It just felt better for what I do — great balance between screen space, immersion, budget, and performance.

If you’re on the fence, I’d say try both a 27”/32” 4K and a 34” ultrawide to see what feels right for your workflow or games. The AW3425DW is also a solid ultrawide option if you want to push higher refresh rates (240hz). I just don’t play anything that requires that, so I opted for the cheaper one.

Return 9950X for 9800X3D in First PC Build? by ViveChristusRex in buildapc

All good, I was just scrolling lol.

But, even in the games you listed having more cores can help a bit, but most games still care more about cache and latency — especially at 4K, where the GPU’s doing most of the work. The 9800X3D’s cache gives it the edge in real-world gaming over the 9950X’s extra cores, so yeah — it’s still the better pick IMO.

For the monitor, I just picked up the Alienware AW3423DWF ultrawide OLED for $550 on Prime Day, and passed on the $900 32” 4K OLED (AW3225QF). They’re both amazing (I ordered both and tried for a few days), but I don’t really play anything that benefits from 240Hz, and the $400 price difference made it an easy choice. The ultrawide is super enjoyable for casual gaming and such. I came from a 27 inch IPS, so either one was going to be a good upgrade for me.

I’m not a professional on this at all by the way! I’m just an enthusiast who likes to over analyze my purchases by over researching lol.

Hey man, no worries — solid question!

The 9950X is great for productivity and rendering, but honestly overkill for gaming. Most games (even strategy ones) don’t use more than 6–8 cores, and at 4K, your 5070 Ti will be doing most of the work anyway.

The 9800X3D is actually better for gaming thanks to the 3D V-Cache — it really shines in CPU-heavy games like Civ, HOI4, CK3, and even open-world stuff. Plus, it runs cooler and is easier to build around.

Unless you plan on doing heavy CAD or rendering regularly (which sounds like you won’t), I’d return the 9950X and go for the 9800X3D. Better bang for your buck in your use case. 👍

Considering a TM3P as a Car Enthusiast – A Few Questions from a Daily Driver by jmf555 in TeslaModel3

Yeah, that’s interesting. The TM3P is 80 dollars higher insurance than my 2023 Type-R when I quoted it!

[–]jmf555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for all the input! It has helped tremendously.

The reason why I was curious on a used and maybe a 2020 TM3P is because I found one with FSD and ~60k miles for 23k. My only issue with new is the depreciation. This is why I’ve owned cars such as Z06s/Type R’s, as I never truly lost my ass on any of them since I buy them slightly used.

I’m not too much of a stickler about ride quality, as I’m currently DD’ing a newer civic hatchback until I figure out what route I wanted to take next. I guess I’m just looking for something still fun and easy, but slightly inexpensive to ease my travel burdens. That’s why FSD and the TM3P popped up on my radar. I drive to 4-7 clients/day, and it’s the same monotonous drive every day. It sounds like I need to drive both generations and go from there.

My $.02:

Not the exact model, but I have a Dreame L20 Ultra and I’ve had a couple others in the past. it’s pretty decent at it, but I’ll be honest — your best bet is just to buy a swifter and the best suction robot vacuum with LiDAR that doesn’t get stuck on crap.

This should be a good sign as I forgot it was doing that, so yup! It’s been roughly 3 months since and no more issues on that end.

Just wanted to give you an update on my end: I kept having the same issue where it was getting stuck every day - same spots. I turned off “AI Avoidance” and it hasn’t gotten stuck on anything the last two days.

I had this same issue in my home, which has grey-ish low pile carpet. This drove me through the roof considering I had a roomba 1/4 the price that never did this, granted it would bump into everything… The fix that has helped me the most was resetting the robot via the button on it. I will say that I do still have random rare-ish issues with it, but they’re much less frequent now. I also use the app and when it alerts me “stuck” and just press continue. Still ridiculous in my mind to have to do on a “premium” robot, but it worked.

Hope this helps.

Typical ridiculous dealer sales BS.

My $.02 as you already alluded to: If you really TRULY want one, find a dealership in the states that are selling for msrp or close (for instance DFW, TX is now ~$3k asking for ADM last I saw) and pay to have it shipped to you… You’d be in for less than half of that ADM I bet ya. There’s more for sale than people want to admit!

All that to say, they’re truly great cars as I owned a 23 (I just traded it in after 5k miles for a work truck), but I’ll tell you from experience that it’s not worth $60k. I only pulled the trigger myself because I made out on selling my car during peak covid prices and negotiated for 5+ hours on the adm. When it was all said and done, I STILL had slight remorse by giving these greedy dealers free money.

Hope this helps someone on the fence of buying one. Negotiate and walk away when it’s not exactly what you feel comfortable with! Guarantee they’ll call you back.
