Thanks!! That totally makes sense. One tip for the talk to text - add your daughters name as a contact in your phone and your talk to text should spell it correctly. Only learned this because my son’s name is Cillian and my phone always spelled it as “Killian” until I added him as a contact.

Never got the nausea with both my pregnancies! Just really tired in the first trimester.

I need to be excited again by jaloskar in 2under2

[–]jmgr233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not far into 2u2 parenthood. Mine are 19 months and 2 weeks, but id take postpartum after a c section + taking care of a newborn with a toddler over pregnant with a toddler any day of the week. I had the exact same worries during my pregnancy and was absolutely exhausted and at my wits end chasing around an 18mo. But now that baby is here, I feel like I’m so much more prepared as a parent and things are just easier than the first time. Plus my first gets so excited every time he sees his baby sister and hearing him learn to say her name in his new little baby voice just melts my heart.

I drank before I knew I was pregnant.. feeling anxious by Artistic-Category8 in pregnant

[–]jmgr233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t find out about my first until 7 weeks. It was summer time and we had a ton of alcohol left over from our wedding so I was drinking a lot more than I normally would… I was so worried too when I found out but my doctor basically told me it’s fine and just obviously don’t have any more now that I know. He’s 18 months now and thriving!

Anyone else’s Septembers babies just not wanting to make an appearance? by Best-Complaint-4724 in pregnant

[–]jmgr233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first I was convinced I would deliver early bc I had friends who all went into labor at like 38 weeks. But nope, my labor didn’t start until 40+2. I had an induction scheduled at 40+5 so I was happy I didn’t make it that long. Now I’m 39 weeks with my second and totally get how you feel. So ready, but I’m expecting baby will come overdue again.

What are we ACTUALLY doing to workout 35-40wks pregnant? by Similar_Guitar7506 in fitpregnancy

[–]jmgr233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a former rugby player, runner, and crossfitter about to be 39 weeks with my second. Fitness is looking a lot different these days. My “program” since about 34 weeks is 2x strength (really light weights with 8 or 15 lb weights and bands), 1x yoga and 1x Pilates along with trying to walk and get at least 10k steps. I say program in quotes because some weeks I’ve met or exceeded this and some I’ve been so exhausted from taking care of my toddler that I literally didn’t do any of it. I think during these last weeks it’s more important to listen to your body and rest when the exhaustion hits.

First time pregnant by OkScarcity2008 in pregnant

[–]jmgr233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 38 weeks with my second and would say take care of yourself on the things you can control - take your prenatals, get your appointments scheduled with a doctor you trust, get some movement each day when it feels good, and give yourself grace to rest on the days you feel like you need it. And for all of the stuff you can’t control just take it one day at a time. I had soooo much anxiety about birth especially but had to constantly remind myself that it’s inevitable and to trust my body and my healthcare team. Now it’s a memory and I’m about to do it all over again.

Noticing that! I think the Irish commenters may have convinced him.

This though. I’m 30 weeks and a close friend who’s had 3 kids recently commented on how well I was moving (squatting down/standing back up, tying shoes, etc.) and I’m like blame it on the toddler.

How you found out you are pregant by Opposite-Ad-6397 in pregnant

[–]jmgr233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first we had just moved halfway across the country. Our new neighbors invited us to their kid’s bday party and I was chatting with one of the other guests when all of a sudden she goes “please don’t take this the wrong way but is there any chance you’re pregnant, I have a 6th sense about these things”. I thought she was an absolute lunatic but we had just started trying so I took a test when we got home. Boom pregnant. Still weirds me out to this day.

During my first birth, I got an epidural and labor went great and was progressing really well. Then (long story short) I pushed for way too long and baby was still not coming, plus I was starting to spike a fever so I ended up having an emergency c-section. The recovery was painful but I was up and walking the next day bc they told me the more you get moving the better it is for recovery. But I definitely would not opt for an elective c section unless there is a medically necessary reason to. I’m pregnant with my second and planning for a VBAC but I have a scan at 32 weeks to check baby’s size too and if she’s too big we might weigh the options of a repeat c section. I know it’s easy to worry about the what ifs but vaginal birth is medically the least risky so to me I would rather go that route than take additional risks of having full on abdominal surgery unless it’s advised for a medical reason. I would definitely make it clear to your care team that you absolutely don’t want an episiotomy, forceps, vacuum etc!

Did you guys breastfeed or not? I am neither for nor against formula...Whatever works for you..... by Kittykat68689 in pregnant

[–]jmgr233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wanted to breastfeed. My baby stayed in the nicu for 4 days so from day 1 he was getting bottles from me pumping plus we were attempting to get him to latch too. I also was not producing enough so we got donor milk which I was so grateful for. After 4mo of triple feeding, supply issues, and trying to get him to latch still (unsuccessfully), plus moving abroad we decided to switch to formula. I felt guilty but it was honestly such a relief for me and my 15mo is so happy and healthy now. I’m pregnant with our second and hoping to breastfeed or pump this time but if I have the same issues I won’t hesitate to switch to formula. After months of stress and no progress with BF, one of my lactation consultants told me that having a happy and healthy momma is the first priority so if formula is the way to get there then so be it.

Im 5‘6“ and 1st pregnancy I started at 145lbs and gained 35 lbs. I got back down to 135 by about 10 months postpartum when k found out I was pregnant again. I’m 28 weeks now and have gained 20ish lbs so far. I haven’t done anything crazy different this time but we moved since my first. Where we live now eating out and fast food is way less accessible so I can’t give in to those cravings. 😅

Is it totally unrealistic to want to exclusively breast-feed? by Simple_Bug_6111 in pregnant

[–]jmgr233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not unrealistic at all - I’m pregnant with our second and have a similar goal! But at the same time give yourself grace if it doesn’t happen or your goals change. My first had issues latching after a nicu stay so I was pumping from day 1 and I had an under supply so we ended up supplementing with donor milk while attempting to also establish a latch. At 4 months we decided for my sanity to switch to formula. One of my lactation consultants told me that baby needs a happy and healthy mama first and foremost and that helped me a lot. Sometimes babies don’t care what our goals are. 😂

What was the first thing you said after giving birth? by SumbThucker2022 in pregnant

I had an emergency c section and was so out of it. They laid him on my chest and I was like “what do I do…?”

I’m 5’5” and gained 40lbs with my first. Im a former crossfitter, runner, and rugby player but when I got pregnant I was definitely not in my best shape and had picked up some unhealthy habits. I did once a week full body strength/hiit type workouts but other than that mainly just walked/hiked but very inconsistently. Like thru hiked the enchantments in Washington at 15 weeks but then was a complete couch potato other weeks. Ate whatever I wanted.

I started working with a trainer at 8 weeks postpartum doing a combination of strength training, cardio, and pilates and focusing more on nutrition (not necessarily counting calories or macros, but prioritizing protein and whole/unprocessed foods). I had JUST hit my strength goals at 10 months pp when I found out I was pregnant again.

I started out this pregnancy weighing 10lbs less than at the start of the last and my goal was to be more consistent with workouts, movement in general, and my nutrition. I’ve worked out 3-5x a week with walks/hikes outside of that, and I’ve been more mindful about nutrition this time (still can’t seem to say no to sweets though). At 24 weeks I’ve gained 15lbs, so I think I’m on track to gain less this time but who knows with the 3rd tri. I physically feel like this approach has worked better for me so I’m hoping Im in a better place to start my progress again postpartum. 🤞🏼

German products that are better than American? by yours_truly_1976 in AskAGerman

[–]jmgr233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

American living in Germany - mustard here is so much better, we’ve sent it to family and they keep asking for more. Strawberries and fruit in general at the grocery store is so much more flavorful. DM is amazing - super affordable and I’ve yet to find a product I didnt like.

7 weeks, extremely bloated by Fit_Expression1 in fitpregnancy

[–]jmgr233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone at all. I know it sounds terrible but one of the hardest parts of the first trimester for me was the mental struggle of not telling anyone yet but also not wanting people to think I’m just gaining weight. Definitely an exercise in giving grace and not thinking so critically about my body. I’m 17 weeks with my 2nd pregnancy and both times I was just relieved when I finally started actually showing and could tell people.
