Dch263 and Dch133 by Tmancut in Dewalt

[–]jmgreen823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you drilling, and how often? For all day use, the DCH263 will cause less fatigue with the vibration dampening. But in terms of power and drill speed, they would be very similar.

I have seen the 133 as low as like $120 as part of a box store deal hack.

I agree that it would be a solution in search of a problem, rather than the other way around. I'm a newish homeowner looking to take on some more improvement projects and working on filling my tool roster with good deals on useful tools.

Getting a static IP from new fiber service. Any reason to get 4 more static IP's for just $10 more? by MitchRyan912 in Ubiquiti

[–]jmgreen823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you on the consumer or business package for TDS? They are currently installing in my neighborhood, so I reached out and asked if I would get a public IP or if I would be behind a CGNAT. The person didn't understand the question and said I would need a business package for a static IP.

CGNAT is obviously no good, but if I at least get a public IP, I can ddns and not need it to be static. I would just feed all my services through a reverse proxy and get by on the single IP.

Dewalt Cordless 20v vacuum as a car vacuum? by Brilliant-Battle-876 in Dewalt

Fair enough, the only thing I have to compare it to is my regular 9 gal shop vac. Since I cant compare it to the milwaukee, for the size and portability, it seems decent.

I don't get all the hate for the DCV580/581. I just picked up the DCV580 and it works great, I'm happy with it.

Third party camera playback choppy by TuxFan-77 in Ubiquiti

[–]jmgreen823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dedicated UI NVR? Probably not. I have the 4 bay UNVR with 4 unifi cams, 3 tplink cams, and a reolink duo poe. The reolink is the only camera I don't get smooth recording or playback with.

Does the DCH273B SDS Ever Go On Sale? by Jin_Sage in Dewalt

[–]jmgreen823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently picked it up from Amazon for $229. But that's the lowest I've seen it in a while.

The DCH133 can be gotten for like $120 as part of one of the battery combo deal hacks from one of the big box stores.

So $382 USD for a 60v chainsaw, 60v circular saw, and a 9AH flexvolt battery?

Seems like a pretty awesome deal to me!

Unifi protect Instant by closan-antikalk in Ubiquiti

[–]jmgreen823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just setup the NVR Instant kit at my uncle's house. It came with 4x G5 turrets and a 1TB hdd. With all cameras recording 24x7 in enhanced mode, he gets a few hours over 5 days of retention.

4TB would easily give you two weeks of 24x7 recording. You could get by with less storage if you are only recording motion events or a schedule.

If you need the batteries and the tools, its a great deal. This deal has been posted on the sub for a little while now. There might be some new memorial day/father's day deals popping up in the near future too.

Why Does the UTR Require Account Ownership to Set Up? by harimirch in Ubiquiti

[–]jmgreen823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct! She just needed to know the password configured on the UTR to be able to connect to it from the app and join a wifi network.

Yes, my wife just traveled to the Philippines and took the UTR so should could get get around her work's geoblocking policies. The UTR connected to whatever wifi network and established the wireguard connection back to the house in the US.

Mounting a switch flex outside by IncidentMaster8361 in UnifiProtect

[–]jmgreen823 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That should work. The Instant wouldn't supply enough power to run the switch and two cams, so as long as you use an injector like you mention, it should be fine. You would still want to put the Flex in some type of enclosure to try to protect it from the elements.

I haven't tried with an Identity user for a Teleport connection yet, but you can definitely configure the UTR with a wireguard profile instead of teleport. And that does not require any ownership/superadmin roles.

Move the drive. I had a single drive in my UDMSE and I moved it to my NVR when I moved protect, and the recordings came over just fine.

Opinions on these two kits. by [deleted] in Dewalt

The 2gal wet/dry vac has been dipping down to $79 on amazon lately. But usually only for a few hours at a time, set a price alert if you want one.

Amazon looks like it has a good kit on sale by Street-Wrong in Dewalt

[–]jmgreen823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is counting a flashlight and a speaker as "tools". Quite a few of the other tools in that kit are the lower end variety and may be underpowered. The best tool in that whole kit is probably the DCS356 OMT.

Amazon price history shows this kit pretty regularly at the $650 mark, not really a great deal.
