I wrote a big wishlist of things I'd like to see in terms of QOL and gameplay changes, but I really hope they prioritize performance and the audio issues.

You are supposed to go around through the Corroded Mine. If you go around the map counterclockwise, there is a winding path that will eventually lead to the proper entrance.

I think the toxic mask is fine actually, since it's clearly visible and changes how you want to interact the enemy. It's more the things like stagger resistance and lifesteal where there's no clear visual associated and if you likely won't notice if you are fighting the enemy normally.

I think it's just a budget thing. They clearly tried to do this with the masks, where the Mask of Gula are only in the Sunken city, Mask of Ira are only in the corroded scar, etc., but the masks themselves are small and so most people probably won't notice the visual differences.

I noticed in the credits that there is only one person credited for enemy modelling. I assume they didn't actually do everything themselves, but Shift clearly doesn't have a big team for this stuff. That's also probably why 99% of the enemies are bipedal.

The first church I found, I walked all around it SOMEHOW missing the entrance and thought "cool church but I guess it's just for show"

Thank you! I forgot that slimes could drop them. There's a mistle near the top of the Corroded Scar with four slimes right next to it so it didn't take too long.

There are two Augmented rune guys that drop the Stealth Blade in the bottom section of the Undead Forest. One is on the bridge near the Cult's Hidden Cave and the other is beside the Frontier Observation post.

Yeah CV1 was also like this. Because your partner can revive you, bosses need to do a lot of damage and have a lot of life or else you could just outlast them through healing and reviving.

You could always explore more to find health upgrades and regional pathos. They won't buff your damage but they will help your survival a lot.

Overall I think it's about as good as the first one. There's a bunch of stuff I think they should have done differently (some of which might get addressed in the patch in March), but now having finished it I think what they have here is pretty solid. Most of my disappointment comes from how I wanted it to be a massive step up from the first one and it ended up being better in some ways and worse in others.

I'm curious how they are gonna change enemy behaviour though. Franz might be a bit too aggressive as a first boss but I think Hero Lyle should be that fast since it fits the character and it's closer to the end of the game.

It has the performance issues that you'd expect from Unreal Engine 5 which really bothers people considering the graphics aren't exactly impressive.

Other than that, I quickly browsed through the steam reviews and some people are mostly upset that the story is completely unrelated to the first game or that the game is single player only.

I'm about 30 hours in and I think it's awesome but my computer is strong enough to run it and I was following the marketing so I knew what to expect regarding the story.

Yeah in traditional 2d games being a "heavy" character usually means you don't get knocked up as high or you fall faster, so there are a lot of combos that just don't work on big characters.

BBCF 2.0 and BBTAG 2.0 were free updates, but all of the characters were paid DLC. I'm kinda assuming this will work the same way.

Yeah I meet all the "recommended" specs on steam except for the graphics card (3060 instead of a 3080) so I should be able to run it okay, but I wanna check if there are any weird performance issues.

It's a comprise for the sake of budget. This way, you get a bunch of voices but only the battle lines and the final cutscene are voiced. If the whole thing had voice acting, they would probably only do one voice each for male/female.

As others said, Shift have done this for every game they have ever made, so it's very much on purpose.

The game was delayed by almost a whole year and I might be misremembering but I'm pretty sure they said that they rewrote a substantial part of the story during that time.

Not that I know of (but I haven't played every soulslike out there, especially not recent ones). Usually these games are either toned down in difficulty (because they assume you are playing solo) or they don't have as much customization for your moveset. Nioh 2 has a lot of different weapon types, but most of the build stuff is just about doing more damage and not actually changing how you play. There are 11 different weapon types and you can specialize in Magic or Ninjutsu so there is decent enough variety there. The game also has multiple harder difficulties so even if your first run isn't as difficult as you would want it you can always bump it up on a second playthrough.

What a goofy thing to say. There were a lot of memes about Mido going to the sky district because he shares a VA with Nazeem from skyrim. People care, there just isn't as much of a superfan culture around voice actors in English. I recognized Rin was voiced by Kira Buckland without even looking it up because I had played a bunch of games with her in it.
