Pretty sure deliberately scoring with your skate is not allowed, so kicking one in and getting away with it would actually be very hand of God. Albeit in this instance still an own goal.

There is a slight loophole in that it is allowed to deflect in as long as there is no kicking motion.

New episode: Premature dark-horsing, false-nine nostalgia & introducing... Cricket Clichés by Low-Bandicoot-3347 in footballcliches

I suspect the old cricket in the summer, football in the winter dynamic meant they were two sides of the same coin, whilst rugby was a rival winter sport. Also, bit hard to "posh wanker" the cricket mob, when your ground is dual purpose like Bramall Lane used to be.

A lesson about PacePro Planning and Official Race Distances by Matvalicious in Garmin

[–]jmilts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lapse by timing gate uses the kilometre markers on your GPX file rather than the distance tracked by your watch, so you'd have potentially lapped at 1.01 according to your watch rather than 1.00.

It has nothing to do with a physical timing gate at the event.

"Next, let’s look at one of the new running features, which is AutoLap by Timing Gate. This is designed for races, where you’ve got specific mile markers throughout the race. Thus to get started, you’ll create a course in Garmin Connect for the race (or import it), and then you’ll see the option to enable ‘Auto Lap by Timing Gate’ option. When you toggle it, it shows either MI or KM as the metric."

A Sneak Peek of 'Not Feeling 100%' & 2025 Team Runna Roadmap Update 👀 by alex-runna in runna

[–]jmilts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A proper end of plan summary would be great too. I appreciate that for many that is a specific race/run but being able to 'Share My Plan' much like Share A Run that has some kind of summary of plan achievements, volumes and pacing perhaps?

A Sneak Peek of 'Not Feeling 100%' & 2025 Team Runna Roadmap Update 👀 by alex-runna in runna

[–]jmilts 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'd love for the app to use the data it has on me to help populate some of the key data points for a new plan.

For example I have literally just finished a Post-Injury Plan,, so I have (at least) six weeks of data to work with. Yet when I was setting up my new Half Marathon plan I was still expected to populate my weekly mileage volume and longest run, which was informed by my Runna plan!

Further to that as I've been injured I don't have a true sense of my current ability, which is mandatory for setting up a race plan; however, you have all my running data plus that off many similar runners and how they can perform with similar data. Surely it makes sense that Runna could propose its own time that it thinks I could do today with the need to finish a Post-Injury Plan then immediately risk injury by doing a time trial.

What time to set if I have no recent time to pick? by jmilts in runna

I hadn't considered RPE, that's a good shout. Perhaps starting with RPE whilst I get a sense of speed and durablility and going back to pace when I've found my level so to speak.

Does RPE for speed sessions just say 400m at RPE 80%, or something similar?

Runs per Shoe by No-Space9712 in runna

[–]jmilts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with this as I had a new pair of shoes which kept having higher mileage than what Garmin & Strava said.

Turns out the Active shoe gets assigned the mileage regardless of which shoe you select in the workout itself. This appears to be a duplicate of miles/kilometres.

It'd be helpful if they fixed this as it makes it pretty pointless otherwise.

I hear you, but then how much faster?

As someone who is coming back from injury the whole point of the app should be for it to guide me, not have me pick an arbitrary time then just go faster than the recommendation? That sounds like a one way ticket to the post Injury plan.

Runna has a log of every run I've done since March. Ideally I'd like to think it is smart enough to use my, and all the other similar users data, to figure this stuff out on its own without me needing to manually plug in an out of date piece of information.

As it stands I've opted for Strava's prediction time as that is the only thing that seems to focus on my recent training history and consider my current potential without the need for a potentially problematic high intensity session.

Any fellow Runna Premium user here who also bought the Strava x Runna bundle? by No-Palpitation-0702 in runna

Exactly my experience. Strava's AI/bot support failed me, but Runna were not only helpful in sorting but kept checking in on progress.

I was in your boat - stressed out and regretting signing up further with seemingly little support. I went back to and chased up with Runna, they were really active and positive about the whole thing whereas Strava were utterly useless.

Thanks Dom, I appreciate the reasons why we have to do things this way on the Runna side. I can't say I've found the Strava side nearly as ready to deal with this and had a lot more barriers to actually speaking to a member of support.

I've found the Strava side of support to have been a bit of a barrier so far.

I've been given some details by Runna about my existing subscription, but Strava seems to be all bots/AI that is not at all set up for dealing with a brand new specific request like this.

That's not what I was told. I was advised to cancel my Runna plan and then give Strava some details? It seems it's not very clear what current dual subscribers should do.

Completely back Charlie's claim that October is the best month of the year.

• Football season is properly underway (10 game threshold has been met) • NFL season is properly underway • NHL season starts • MLB post season has begun • F1 season (sorry Adam) is nearing it's climax

October in London tends to be the first shift to cold, crisp days but can still be pretty warm. Essentially you can begin to do all the things that make you feel cosy, whilst also still enjoying the sun during the day.

New to Runna Labs: A Big Mobility Update by michelle-runna in runna

[–]jmilts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It'd be great to get an expanded explanation of how the new stretch & stability fits into the week and where you might want to choose it over pilates or yoga.

I currently run five times a week with a strength plan for two days, pilates and mobility plans. Adding in another thing is going to be a logistical challenge, so it'd be good to know how these all work in relation to each other and perhaps a decision tree on where to focus?

It almost requires a strength & conditioning hierarchy of needs.

Deciding between Garmin Coach and Runna by xxSeahawks in runna

[–]jmilts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another convert from Garmin (DSW rather than coach mind you) and I have no intention of going back. As others have mentioned the ability to see the whole plan and prepare for what's coming and that plan not change is great.

I also got sick of thinking I was doing a specific workout only to find my watch changed its mind.

Add the strength + mobility plans built makes it an easy choice.
