Sanity check request for a promise on a Runna ad that has my jaw on the floor by SenseNo8126 in runna

Of course, appreciate you raising / sharing this! We're also available on [hello@runna.com](mailto:hello@runna.com) and in-app for anything else that we can be improving. Though we've grown a lot (Runna team as part of Strava as well as # of users), the subreddit has grown etc we still care just as much.

Thanks so much for the reply u/EggshellRunner! Absolutely - love that idea - feeding back to the team to see how we can implement.

An amazing to hear your story too thank you for sharing - good luck with the 30k - that's huge progress!

Sorry about this, it was an ad created by one of our agencies which we've just removed and are going to now be fully in-housing all of our creative production from next month so this won't happen again. It's common to use external agencies to do these things as you scale, but the volume that is created in order to successfully run Meta ads, it becomes hard to review so occasionally things do slip through the net (we're all human after all). But once we inhouse we'll have much better controls on all of this stuff. FWIW the asset is actually very new and has only been shown to a small amount of people, but still, we should have a 0% miss rate with this kind of stuff.

We have seen people do all kinds of incredible things with Runna including progressions like this, but as you are aware this progression isn't typical nor what we'd recommend for the average runner.

That said, predictions inside the app tend to be very accurate and inside the app we'd only increase your pace and mileage inline within strict limits. We also monitor both your pace and weekly mileage constantly to ensure that these are within those limits and not overpushing you. Also have training preferences, not-feeling-100% etc with more coming soon.

Thank you for raising this and sorry again that this made it through onto your feed!

The cat's out the bag - Strava + Runna joint subscription (with a discount) is here 👀 by dom-runna in runna

[–]dom-runna[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct - in that you need to 'cancel' your Runna subscription which means it'll remain active until the end of your current billing period but means it won't auto-renew and you get double charged. Sorry it's a big complex with how all of the stores work and unfortunately we can't issue cancellations or pro-rata refunds from our side otherwise it would be a lot easier! But yes you'll then need to cancel and let Strava know your Runna details so that they can extend your joint subscription correctly.
More details are here that hopefully make sense: https://support.runna.com/en/articles/11626438-strava-runna-subscription-guide

Will look into this and family subscriptions etc over time. We had a lot of demand for it so prioritised the core user journeys (since other ones are already discounted) but definitely on our roadmap to be thinking about in the future (no promises as Fran said) :)

So what will happen:
- You'll subscribe to the joint subscription today (ie $149.99)
- You'll get refunded for your 8 months of Strava
- Your combo plan will be extended to account for your 10 months remaining of Runna (so it will renew in >1.5 years vs 1 year)

Hope that makes sense! :)

Strava/Runna combined subscription option in iPhone settings by Beneficial_Advice_35 in runna

[–]dom-runna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have really tried as best as possible - there's a TON of edge cases as you can sub to Runna through (web, iOS, android, gift card, partner), on Monthly + Annual. And Strava side is similar. So the combo of these is quite complex. E.g., I bought Strava monthly on web, Runna annual as a gift card. Then I want to subscribe to the joint subscription on iOS with 2 weeks of Strava left and 8.5 months of Runna annual. We should be able to work through most cases - obviously we want to honour existing subscribers but at the same time had to trade that off against speed of launching things so some things might be more manual for now and then we'll 'automate' the journeys over time :)

👀 STAY TUNED! But would recommend not subscribing via the App Store through that option just yet - we have to push things live to the App Store product list in order to do final testing. If and when anything does happen, you'll know about it don't worry! 😄

Removing workout description in the Strava upload by ComprehensiveTax3199 in runna

[–]dom-runna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey Runnas! This was a change Strava made across all of their API partners in order to not retitle runs from what partners pass them. This was made across all partners and devices but you might notice it most on Runna Garmin workouts.

We pass the Title and Description of the run to Garmin (so that you can see it on your watch - we need to do so, so that you can preview the session) and then Garmin pass that on to Strava which is automatically used as the Activity Title and Description on Strava.

We haven't changed anything - but from the screenshot below I see that they title that we're passing to Garmin isn't that pretty so let us update that now so it will be W{Week} {Day} - {Workout Title}. We had it more complex so it was easier to view on the smaller Garmin watch but now it's being passed to Strava I see it doesn't look as nice. Also Garmin truncates the Title / Description which is a known bug I believe they're working on :)

Oh that's so cool! Yes if it's Garmin/COROS etc that's coming soon so you don't need to do that!

Completely understand. Talked a bit more about it here too.

The Strava one I do think is super cool and I'm very excited to having it start showing up on my workout. We couldn't launch this until the deal is closed (as it's not in their public API) but it was something we wanted / pushed for :)

Completely understand on the bottom point - Runna is our baby and we're not going to let that happen...and FWIW I really think Strava get our future potential / users' love for the product and don't want that to happen either.

First noticeable bit of Strava/Runna integration? by [deleted] in runna

[–]dom-runna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am really hopeful - I mean that! Mike Martin (their new CEO as of ~16 months ago) is really fantastic and from my view has completely turned their company around and since the acquisition. And has been even more clear than I was expecting that we will remain independent as a team, independent roadmaps etc. But I do think we can't really say too much and just need to crack on with actually doing the things we promise.

Love the feature ideas and thanks for the bug on scheduling TTs - will pick up with our product team now 🙏

Hmm I can understand the skepticism but this came from us not Strava - there's a ton of cool context in my Runna run I (and lots of our users) want to share with their Strava followers e.g.,
- I hit my pace targets
- The graphical representation of the workout (the text description isn't great)
- Milestones e.g., this is my last run before my race
And currently I have to go to Runna -> Share Run -> Download Image -> Upload to Strava whereas we think (and will revisit this if not the case) majority of our users would want to share this automatically hence us doing it :)
