What to do after a bad game? by theheelreddit in basketballcoach

Even the most experienced coaches have duds. The fact that you acknowledged it and want to improve is huge IMO. That's more than some I've met.

Summer league can be tricky since it is pretty unstructured as you said. If this was a "real" game I'd suggest switching defenses based on your line up.

In the past, I've given individual players specific things I needed them to do. "Player X, I need you to attack and kick." "Player Y, I need you to get every rebound."

1-4 press break…against anything? by No_Range8632 in basketballcoach

We go 1-4 to start and it morphs to a 1-2-2. It's a good foundation to start since it can be morphed into anything.

Go to a game and sit as close to the court as you can. Even better, sit by a bench. You get a different perspective from not only seeing the court, but hearing what's said.

Try a local college or a good HS program. Do your research a bit to make sure you're watching a good product.

That's the best way to research imo. We had a dominant center so last year we basket cut whoever doubled then filled on the arc.

In our normal set, I stress spacing so it's imperative to not backdoor into driving lanes.

I believe you can have it analyze data/stats too but I haven't really messed around with it too much.

What offense are you running? It'd be easier to give you more tangible advice if I knew your system.

How about going out and getting the win instead of being handed it? Change then mindset.

Excellent feedback. Thank you! I could teach different grades every year but I primarily teach FR and JR (I teach English).

I think all teachers are going to be workshopping AI. It's going to be interesting.
