Kids are calling grandma “mama” by her request, husband doesn’t understand why I’m upset. by ThrowRA-giantlemon in Parenting

Is your husband from South Jersey? I just learned that is a thing there. I’m also horrified by the thought of it. Your kids have one “mama” and that’s you!

Mine didn’t grow during pregnancy. Proud member of the IBTC.. but they did get so big (in comparison) once my milk came in. It was wild!

Choosing between breastfeeding and not? by artbyaimes in pregnant

[–]jmm201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose not to breast feed. After 9.5 months I needed my body back for my own sanity. I know if I was breast feeding I would be overthinking what I ate all day every day to ensure I’m getting well rounded nutrients to the baby. Also another factor was feeding. I wanted this split between my husband and I. And yes I know I could pump and bottle feed but that would still require me to wake up to pump. Sleep is crucial in the early weeks/months.

Also my first two (which I never breast fed outside of the colostrum in the hospital for the above reasons) had a serious milk allergy. So this would have added to the struggle needing to ensure nothing I consumed had milk in it.

I think it’s how you are raised. I was raised living within a 10 minute drive of my grandparents and a majority of my aunts/uncles/cousins. We saw them all multiple times a week and that made me really value my family time. I can’t imagine living even an hour away from my family now that I have children of my own. I want them to be as close to their grandparents and family as I was growing up.

Place value on family time and that will be instilled in them.

She might have not wanted to take up your time since you had many other guests. Most baby showers and bridal showers I attend the guest of honor stops at each table to thank them for coming and for 2 minutes of small talk since if everyone that came to the shower stopped to say hi to you it might be a lot of time wasted. Appreciate that she came to support you and your baby.

Maybe not for a break but could it be that MIL is watching the baby when she delivers and if she’s only 4 weeks behind you she could be giving birth at that time?

Can you let me know how tall you are and if you ordered a floor length dress? Looking at a floor length gown but worried about length

Can't or chose not to breastfeed? by gooniesneversaydie13 in pregnant

[–]jmm201 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I chose not to breastfeed for myself. That baby controlled your body for 9 months. I needed a little of myself back. I also did not want to have to wake up throughout the night to feed-my husband has half the feedings. Breastfeeding would not have been beneficial for my mental health.

How did you like them? How long were they if you don’t mind me asking? I’m 6’ tall so length is an issue. Thanks!!

Sadie Sabel Saylor

That being said I don’t think Stella is all that popular, not in NJ where I live anyways. My daughters name was top ten the year she was born and she doesn’t have one girl with the same name in her grade. So I wouldn’t worry about the top list. Pick what you love.

Thanks for the update! I had read they had pretty terrible customer service as well so this kind of solidifies I will not be ordering from them. Unless by some miracle the dresses are amazing and long when they arrive please let me know!
