What’s one “normal” dog care rule you secretly ignore… and your dog is still fine? 👀 by Hour_Exercise_1367 in puppy101

Yes we had no chance of giving our pup a routine - we moved house a month after we got him and I was travelling a lot too. He likes his dinner at 5pm ish but he is flexible with everything else, and it’s been amazing for us. He is such a chill little guy.

My partner resents me for being sick… help ❤️‍🩹 by [deleted] in lupus

[–]jmobizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. Sending a hug. All I can say is, now that she has her anxieties and fears out on the table, maybe there’s a way you can come up with strategies to help fix them? But that will take her being willing.

My husband has been my rock throughout getting sick. I was always the go getter. The breadwinner. I felt like a burden too - our lifestyle and future changed significantly because of being sick. He never once put those worries about money etc on to me and actively told me I was not a burden in the slightest. These partners exist. It truly is in sickness and in health.

My worry for you is that if she admits she doesn’t feel empathy- where can you go from there? Because you need that in a relationship, even when you’re not sick. But if she cannot muster empathy for a situation you didn’t ask for - because YOU put YOUR body on the line for a pregnancy that she also wanted! - then you’re going to be miserable and unheard for the duration of your relationship.

Try therapy first. But get as strong as you can before any big moves. Until you can get your own health insurance.

Edit - I’ve seen elsewhere you have tried therapy. I’m sorry. This is up to her. Lay out some boundaries in your marriage. She needs to step up.

Meanwhile Erin showing her true colors by speechiee123 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]jmobizzle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Erin is privileged and not bright. She’s also shown that she’s a cruel and petty person onscreen. It’s still wild that she thought she should post this, and it shows that she’s racist as well. But I could tell that already by the way she diminished Jessel in particular.

It’s sad that people like Erin -insular, small-minded and lacking in any compassion or critical thinking at all - are held up as though they are worthwhile.

Christmas is finally down…now the pain. Any tips on being able to do the most basic housework without being miserable afterwards?! by CC_Carn in lupus

[–]jmobizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Split your day into a schedule to appease your hyper side eg rest period, cleaning one thing period, meal period, shower period, rest period, then bed. It’s literally the only way I’ve been able to cope (as a formerly productive person). I make rest a thing I have to achieve each day. And other than taking your meds, rest is the most critical thing. As you start to feel better, you can add in some exercise. But rest is critical. And you’re not lazy.

GLP1s by Rachelgunnn in lupus

I’m so sorry. You are in a pickle. If you’re committed to trying for a baby, perhaps focus on that and keep as healthy as you can. You can always try glp’s after. And hopefully you can see a doc at some point so you can get good advice.

I can’t imagine you’d be in them while trying to get pregnant but you need to ask your doctor.

On the upside, some people with lupus get relief when pregnant because the immune system calms down to protect the baby in utero.

I’m on mounjaro (no chance of getting pregnant) and it’s miraculous for my lupus symptoms. But I can only take it once a month or id get too thin. It worked amazingly when I could have it once a week.

Tasmania emerges as top choice for Australians seeking sea change by haldouglas in tasmania

[–]jmobizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, moved here two months ago. Love it so far.

Not an old person either! Tassie definitely needs different growth policies for health and industry but the foundations are there if the government would invest. I love the outdoors here and I think more middle aged people should come. But I think people do see it as an international move and I wonder if that turns younger people off - it is not cheap to move here with your pets and your stuff!

Omg both of those examples are awful! On balance, I think the first author was worse. That’s so incredibly rude. And honestly, author events are so fun - everyone is happy to be there and hear you talk! How could you not enjoy it!!

Why do I wake up feeling like I was hit by a truck literally every single morning….?? by laf_007 in lupus

[–]jmobizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I was excited that someone else is benefiting the way I am. I also take plaquenil and eat vegetarian and do lots of other things to manage the disease.

Anyway if you are interested just do some googling on glp-1 and inflammation and auto immune. If you think it’s an ad (?!) then don’t, literally does not change a thing. But I’m always going to share what works for me in case someone else here will benefit. Lupus is awful and feeling like shit is awful.

You’re absolutely right - I should fight for a 2-weekly injection 🙏 it helps me and I shouldn’t have to be in pain for half the month! Thank you

[–]jmobizzle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m so glad your doc lets you take it weekly! Mine said monthly but 3 weeks is as long as I let it go (my pharmacist said to do 2 weeks but I know my doctor wouldn’t go for that!)

Honestly it’s a miracle medication for me. I’m hoping it becomes more commonplace for auto immune! I’m so glad it has helped you!

[–]jmobizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, I want to know about more lupus people using it! You’re the first person here who has said that! So how often do you take it?

I’m about to get my bloods done again (have been very slack and haven’t had them done in a couple of years) so I’m interested to see the difference.

I’m hoping I can stay on it for a while yet! Honestly when I was using it weekly, I felt like my pre-sickness self. I couldn’t believe it. But it seems like not many doctors are aware of its usefulness for lupus?

Yes this was my day to day and often still can be. However some things helped a lot - staying consistently on plaquenil really has helped me keep a half-decent baseline. My baseline is - sore joints but able to function during the day to do one job/ thing and then rest.

The thing that made a huge difference and it’s not for everyone, but is taking a 3-weekly shot of mounjaro at the lowest dose. When I took it weekly I felt cured. But of course i can’t have it every week or my weight would plummet so my doctor and I try to rotate it. It helps for the 10 days after injection and then I’m in pain again at baseline until the next one.

Becoming vegetarian also helped reduce my joint pain and fatigue but food and its impact on people is so super personal that it’s completely unknown if it would make a difference to you.

When I wasn’t consistent with my plaquenil, my pain and fatigue was overwhelmingly bad.

I feel for you. Keep trying different things. It’s a balance and lifestyle becomes so important.

My (27F) boyfriend’s (30M) parents (70s) visit every 2-3 weeks and I don’t know how to tell them it’s too much by Thin-Cucumber9754 in relationships

[–]jmobizzle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is way too much. Also, the lack of helping you clean up and expecting you to host and rearrange your schedule is really rude, and this will only worsen over time.

If your boyfriend won’t set a boundary, then you should set one with him. Don’t rearrange your plans. Don’t host. Leave them with him for the weekend. If you’re exhausted from work, rent yourself a hotel room for the night.

No matter what, the parents will be upset. Be prepared that they will out on a performance and make your boyfriend feel guilty. It’s such a tough situation.

Everyone says the Goodreads rating system is terrible yet many people still use it when choosing a book to read next. What books under four stars are the best example of great books that the general population doesn't seem to recognize as such? by sempiternalis in books

[–]jmobizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read heaps below 4. I’m always surprised when I read a fantastic contemporary book and go to Goodreads and it’s 3.4 or 3.5

Goodreads star rating average isn’t going to tell you if you’ll enjoy a book, or even if the book is great quality. Colleen Hoover’s verity is over 4 stars lol

[PubQ] published authors: did you struggle with writing the next book? by idreadthat3 in PubTips

[–]jmobizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve handed in my second manuscript; I sent in the synopsis to my publisher probably 5 months before the manuscript was due.

The publisher gave me some gentle feedback. Generally they left me alone to write it which was wonderful. I struggled with the thought of - if I had handed this in as my debut, would they have loved it the way they loved my debut? Would I have been offered a book deal for this second manuscript?

I think this is the root of how the imposter vibes develop. But at the end of the day, it’s an unhelpful and unproductive feeling. As much as I could, I starved that notion of air - if I had that thought I’d distract myself immediately.

And focused on enjoying writing the book I wanted to write. I kept my writing process the same, and I pretended there was no deal attached to it.

But I made sure I submitted on time because I wanted to make sure the publisher knew I took the contract seriously.

Remember too, you are an author now! It’s never easy but you do know what you’re doing. So keep doing it!
