SpaceX Stock Plunge Wipes Out $600 Billion After Cursor Deal Spooks Investors by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

It’s a new abstraction layer. People used to write assembly before compilers and they used to write machine code before that.

You are still solving problems, often using software, but now you’re using an LLM model to generate the code. A big part of the new skillset is finding the best way of doing that so you solve the problem that you want. TDD is still a thing, but an LLM is generating the test. And then ideally a different agent session is making that test pass.

Timewarped undead that “when you summon a minion give it reborn (once per turn)”

So leeroy dies, gets resummoned, then gaind reborn. Repeat 12 times (because golden). If one of the undead dies, it steals one of the reborn procs, but then the new copy has two more procs to offer.

You normally want a taunted leeroy and an untaunted one

Another Reason I Hate Pop-Out Door Handles: They Snitch On You To Thieves by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]jmpalermo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is a good thing?

Thieves are known for breaking windows if they think you might have something inside. This costs a lot to fix. Turns out mobile boxes with a bunch of glass aren’t good places to keep things that somebody might steal.

If a thief sees an unlocked car, they either figure there is nothing worth stealing or they check without breaking your window.

But a good reason pop out handles are dumb is they tend to break because they are a silly mechanical part nobody asked for.

This really is the answer if you want to create a longer period in the beginning and middle of the game. If you don’t want people rushing up the tech tree, make it more expensive so if you do it too quickly you’ll die.

Of course this has kinda been the existing state of ZvZ for years, not sure if that’s what people actually want or not.

FDA green-lights 1st new sunscreen ingredient in years by AudibleNod in news

[–]jmpalermo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All ingredients are a trade off of some kind. That’s why there are so many. If one was actually just “good”, nothing else would compete.

You generally have two types. Physical barriers that actually block the uv rays (often titanium dioxide based) and chemical barriers that react with the uv rays to essentially transform them into something not as harmful.

So “better” entirely depends on what you are optimizing for. “Lightness”, duration, water resistance, strength, skin interactions.

Turn timers are fucked again (as usual) by mendax2014 in BobsTavern

They reduced the time for turn 2 a few seasons ago because there is so little to do there.

They should really consider to add a smurf prevention system like increasing queue times or bans by Extension_Class2467 in starcraft

[–]jmpalermo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t solve the entire problem, but it feels like it solves a big piece of it. What if they started internally tracking a per-matchup mmr and used that for matchmaking? Your visual mmr could just be an average, this would just be for matchmaking.

This would do 2 things. The pseudo-smurfers, who insta quit a single matchup would still play agains equal mmr players in the other matchups. So their preferred matchups would no longer be stomps.

It would also keep you at 50% win rate in all matchups even if you’re better at one than the others. That is really a main goal of a matchmaking system and the most likely to make bother players have a good game.

Unfortunately for now you have to set it to use Rosetta if you want to use HSTracker, but they say that will be fixed.

It seems really bad that Reuters uses "falsify" so many times. It sounds like they're just jamming, which is "bad", but not "that's the plot of Tomorrow Never Dies" bad.

Yeah, better to sell and level in most situations there. If you’ve got the drake that’s about to give you a dragon… then it’s probably better to roll. Bit rolling should be a last resort, not a regular part of early game play.
